Yup Mellow has an evo, so what?
He felt the need to go fast on tracks and got rid of his scooby which is an inferior car performance-wise.

Yup Mellow has an evo, so what?
he also has an escort cossie
My turn to ask: "So what?" I also have a BMW. Does that make it as fast as my Evo, just because the owner's the same (as you imply)? You had better ask yourself why he sold the scooby and not the Cossie

he didnt like the GSR evo cos you couldnt get the back end out
Yes you can.

I rather like my posts being high lighted and repeated, It doesnt change their meaning and as a point of debate is a good way of giving an opinion.

However the quote from our Roman God King

"All of the Subaru owners I have talked to said that they would love to have an Evo but couldnt afford it."

Is statistically meaningless....out of interest how many owners did you talk to ...not many I bet... perhaps we should ask here how many owners would prefer an evo if they could afford it.

Lets see.

Even my wife and 2 kids can fit easily in the Scoob (and in comfort).
Depending on how big she is, she would also fit in an Evo LOL

I only take girls with me who fit in the Recaros!

Good to hear you enjoy your car. I guess your wife likes it, too. Comfy, huh?

Exclamation

a standard EVO5 is no match for a standard STi5 RA.
Bollock's depends on driver!

This is where MMC have made a mistake, they should of brought out a few Lancers with specs similer to what Subaru did. With MMC it's a full out 280ps monster at a high price, with Subaru peeps have a wide range of specs with price to suit.

Yes

Even Mellow has admitted that Evos are a better car than the Scoob. He has bought himself an Evo 6 RS claiming it to be the best yet !!!! Bet we see his lap times come down now as we all know its the car not the driver !!!

What do you all think, should we relegate Mellow to the Lancer BBS !!! I for one hope not as I enjoy his posts...........

Your thoughts please .........

His obviously appreciates superiority

e.g. Scoob = Penny Mallroy
Evo = Anna Kornikova

PS Can't wait to see the replies

OMG

Mellow bought an EVO!

What am i gonna do?

Please accept my formal resignation from Scoobynet, I am now off to the local model shop to get myself an R/C Evo (bit strapped for cash at the moment and anyway, who's gonna notice on the internet). Once assembled and painted i am gonna go and beg the Lancer BBB to have me as a member or failing that perhaps i can just view the board from time to time as i have heard the cars and the peoople are so much better over there. I have authority that Scooby owners are Monkey-spankers, sheep-******** and or bike seat sniffers and EVO drivers are hung like Donkeys and get all the wimmen.

Good bye Scoobynet, netters et al

I am off to where the grass is officially greener

Paul

BTW - Has anyone seen my ******** handcuffs and Moggadons?

In view of this terrible news it is now obvious all our cars are no longer worthy of mention in context with the supreme car, the evo.
The evo ("the chosen one") is perfect and let no one here cast critisisms of the ride, mpg, or tank size.
The heathens who say that our cars are so similar in critical areas it all comes down to personnal choice must be punished and sent to the RS owners board where demons roam.
Any whispers of Skyline and 500+ Bhp and "the next real step up the ladder" are also forbidden.

Mellow getting an EVO is just the thin end of the wedge, by this time next week i bet this board will be empty bar the odd tumbleweed blowing through, all the members will have flogged their Scoobies to get proper cars.

Well, for those that have the money for an evo...Just because something is more expensive, doesnt make it better. On the road, I have driven both, and I really dont see what all the hype is about with the Evos ( 4,5 and 6 )
They may be capable of better times on the track, but on the road, a subaru feels better. And while both cars do have their good points, and bad, one thing the evo does not have, and will never have, which does helps driver enjoyment, is the noise, Evos sound CRAP. Give me and old legacy anyday. Then with the money Ive saved, I dont think too many evos will see the road I went.

Scooby - Fab noise : Evo - Too expensive, tank too small, servicings needed too often, blah, blah, blah.....we've heard it all before a zillion times, it really is getting very boring. Why do people persist in saying these things over and over again? Who gives a ****? Buy what you want...end of story.

Me...I have an Evo and it's much better than a Scoob because it's....................!

We all know that he'll be on to a skyline next and that handles better than the evo but he didnt like the GSR evo cos you couldnt get the back end out so does this mean that because hes gone for the "real" evo (ie the one without AYC) that its a better car full stop?

Even Mellow has admitted that Evos are a better car than the Scoob.
You sound surprised. Havent you ever driven an Evo?

He has bought himself an Evo 6 RS claiming it to be the best yet!
That is correct. It is the lightest and therefore fastest version of the Evo 6.

Bet we see his lap times come down now as we all know its the car not the driver !!!
If he goes for times on a track (as opposed to back road use which the car is intended for) then you will see a slight decrease in lap times. An Evo is 15s faster on the ring than an STI.

Sounds like you finally saw the light.

However, I have to say I doubt buying an Evo makes your dick grow But you will go faster with your teenie weenie LOL

I am off to where the grass is officially greener

It's been obvious for a long time, actually.

The evo ("the chosen one") is perfect and let no one here cast critisisms of the ride, mpg, or tank size.
These are comfort features and performance reducing things you seem to criticise the absence of on an Evo: the ride is firm to allow for higher cornering speeds, the tank size is reduced to reduce the car's weight to increase performance, and it being so performant reduces the mpg.

If you want a less performant car, add weight, put lowering springs on it or stick to your scooby!

The heathens who say that our cars are so similar in critical areas it all comes down to personnal choice must be punished
I wouldnt punished all the fools in this world for making dumb statements (I wouldnt live long enough anyway). Let them talk. As MAXI says, those who know cannot explain, those who dont know cannot understand. And that's how it is.

Any whispers of Skyline and 500+ Bhp and "the next real step up the ladder" are also forbidden.
A Skyline with exhaust and ECU is not as fast as an Evo with exhaust and ECU. And a Skyline is only good for straights or fast curves.

I use quotes to let people know what I am referring to when I write. It helps them to understand me. Not saying that they necessarily understand , but it helps

It his money let him buy an EVO not gonna change my view of them. Scoob to EVO is not an upgrade, scoob to 355 is an upgrade .

EVO is not available as a wagon.
Impreza is available as a wagon.

Impreza is therefore better. QED.

Yep I'd have to agre. I like the styling on both the Evo and the Subaru witht he Subaru just edging it as you can get a 2 door version which looks much more aggresive IMHO. Not really interested in track times blah blah. I drive on a road. I might take my Type R on a track one day but even then it won't be a regular occurence.

So in the real world a Type R and Evo have comparible performance only the Type R can be anywhere from £3000-£6000 cheaper than an Evo so guess which one I went for. I would also agree that I would not see the Evo as a natural upgrade path for me now. If I hadn't bought the Subaru then maybe but IMO the Evo isn't a big improvement over what I have now. What's the point of paying more money for a car with the same performance. If I was gonna stick with Jap cars I would at least need to upgrade to a Skyline R33 or R34 for my next car or ultimately a 911 Turbo.
