I imagine the main thing to bear in mind with a turbo car is to leave the engine running for a minute or three after a run where the engine has had a good work out. My turbo timer takes care of that for me.

I thought all Skylines had a turbo-timer on them as standard (?)

Lots of debate on the usefulness of a dump valve - whether or not they are effective when running big boost, sucking unfiltered air, creating lag and all sorts of things.

Personally, I think they are worth having - and they sound great

Depending on what type you get, make sure you get one with a strong diaphram as they can split.

There's a good dialogue on what a dump valve does (and doesn't, and can't do) in the drivetrain forum at the moment...

IMHO amtmosphere dump values suck the big one! They sounds bloody stupid around town and everybody thinks your a boy racer. You only really need them when running stupid boost pressures.

Lolly
find someone who has one in their car and drive around in it for a bit. If you can last ten minutes without getting pissed off with the noise get one.

If you want noise get one of those HKS Super Dragger Small Children Swallower Exhausts.

Mark

(PS sorry to every one who has a dump valve)

Oi - I have a Super Dragger and a Baily DV - that matched with a SS downpipe - Sounds awesome - I did have a Apexi DV but had to upgrade when the Unichip was done.

As for dump valves - I just like the noise, no Im not sad enough to stick my head out the window and do impressions - honesst i dont do it hehe !!

Ive just ordered one that coming from Japan within the next 7 days, cost me near enough £300, not sure of the make though Blitz I think it said !

Oh and ive bought an induction kit for it too....next i need a huge zorst system i think ;o))

Question

Lolly

Might I suggest you check the UK GTR Register also as they may be able to give some advice.
I have an HKS valve. When fitted to a Supra this valve sounds like a dormouse farting. You need to be running big boost and have minimal soundproofing to hear it inside the car [Supra].
If you are planning to do modifications other than your filter and valve I suggest you ask a lot more questions before parting with your hard-earned wedge too easily.
A few people I know have been stung rather badly by shoddy workmanship.
Enjoy the noise ...

Did I say I whooped it in the GTE - no !! Ive got it all on video too for some daft reason ! The cossie was just messing about but I had to overtake cos of some traffic on the road and other reasons - he wouldnt let me past as he was in the midde of the road !
