Question

After 6500m just noticed that the inside of the fronts has worn alot more than the outside. Not quite the pattern I would have expected.

Seem to remember this in Evo, with their long termer having a similar prob. Subaru denied any alignment problems. Have now rotated the tyres and will get the geometry checked at the next service.

Anyone else had similar?

Left worn on inside right more on outside, Suppose I must go faster round left handers, but 10.000 so need replacing if there low all over it doesn't really matter, if there's a big difference get it checked.

I'm not sure if the same applies to MY01's as it did to the previous model, but Subaru appear to specify tolerances for the model range, rather than each particular variation.
As a result, the tolerances are wide enough to park in.

I got 9k out of my first set of tyres. After having the geometry tested on Hunter gear, it was found that only one setting was marginally out of tolerance. The rest were a joke, but 'within tolerance'.

All the settings are now in the middle of the tolerances, and it's almost a different car. Even better. My Dealer has bent over backwards to help, but all Subaru have done is sent me the tolerances. Very helpful.

Judging by EVO's problems with their fleet car, I would assume that things are still the same on the WRX, and Subaru are still being as helpful as ever

Ah, Josh - that would explain why despite costing £54 to check and have the tracking etc adjusted at my recent service, the car still feels like the tracking's out despite being within tolerances....

So where does one go to get it checked on Hunter gear?

After 15K miles both front inside edges have worn.

New tyres to be fitted this week.

Good for you Dave, but my wallet doesn't stretch that far. . Don't see why I should fork out over a grand to sort out sommat on a brand new car. Don't mind if I wear the tyres quickly though my driving habits but do object to changing them prematurely due to poor alignment. Will take it up with the dealers.

On my MY00, it turns out that the factory settings were *WAY* out!!!!

I went to Powerstation after about 1000 miles for the Bump Steer Mod and 4 wheel alignment and Nick showed me that the factory settings were abysmal

After being set correctly , the car was a different vehicle, couldn't believe the difference.....

If you don't get any joy with your dealer then I would recommend a visit to Powerstation for the 4 wheel alignment, the best £100 I ever spent!!!!
