Question

Following on from some of the other MY01 threads:
How many MY01 owners are on here, and what have you got?
What mods if any have you done?
Are you happy with the car?

Apologies if its already been done(but I havent seen it)....

Getting 4 dr WRX MY02 in Sept. DBM.

No plans to mod. 215bhp plenty enough for most mortal folk. Sounds like you don't really feel that sort of power until 3-5k are up on the clock. Wait till then, maybe PPP it and add improve boot spoiler if I get bored. Who knows? Depends on cost as well.

I have concerns over the paint chipping though. Seems a regular complaint. MPG figures a little worry too but hey if you can afford a one shouldn't moan too much.

Like it's looks, love it's handling, adore the whine of the turbo and burble of the boxer. I doubt I will ever use the CD player unless stuck in traffic!!!

Truly the best car overall in the 20k region, and I researched most of them!!!

MY01 DGM
Best motor I've had. Quick refined and LOUD (Full Scoobysport + GrpA Downpipe) Holds on to the competition and more. No kick in the **** acceleration that you get with the older models but have you seen how quickly other cars disappear from view in your rear view mirror - MAGIC. Wouldn't swap it for a UK300 ooooono what were they thinking with that spoiler ???

I had one for 2 months then flogged it for a P1.

It wasn't quick enough for me IMHO and i missed the " push back in the seat " bit ,sorry.

WRX 4 Door, BBM.

Mods:
So far - clear indicators (thanks Ady). Planned - that would be telling (and the wifey reads this bbs and her plans for the kitchen might get even more expensive)

I'm loving it more and more as it frees up as the miles go on it. As another pie fiend I agree with Andy about the buckets! However, the craving for pies has been cut by the seats....

Dislikes - people telling me the old model was better. The old model was "rawer" and the new model is more refined. Like me it has put on weight as it has got older, but some more power will sort that out soon.

Wagon with painted skirts, a few extra plastic bits from Subaru and pimp tints. Oh yeah and my snowboard rack just to slow it down a little.

My name is down for the PPP as I can afford the petrol and want a bit more noise and kick in the back.

May go for the UK300 headlights but am getting used to originals, saw a few going the other way today and they looked great... the more you see the less they look like a Corolla.

4 door in WRC Blue

Subaru body kit spoliers & grills, colour coded sills.

To Do: Alcantara interior, PPP, Leda B.

I'm 80% happy compared to my old MY97. Needs more power and I miss the sharper handling the old Prodrive kit gave it. The only problem, is with the buckets seats being to damned narrow. (I must cut down of all those pie ! ) By the end of Aug i expect to be 100% happy, if not £3K poorer...

5 door WRX WRC blue, Quickshift, Prodrive back box. Happy since I found out about a remapped ECU from Subaru which, since fitted, has cured the engines eratic hesitancy. 3.8k on the clock and loosening up nicely. Might get the zoorst downpipes and centre section done next or PPP if and when!!!!!
Cheers

WR Blue 5 door.
Booked in for PPP 2 weeks time.

Undecided on morrettes - standards do work well and are starting to grow on me! gulp!

Gauge pod as soon as Ive seen one in the flesh and decided they look OK myself

18" wheels maybe I,ve heard they tram line a bit anyone compared them to 17's is it looks or is there any benefit on the road.

Lowering kit Prodrive upgrade? My second biggest moan car looks too high on its suspension to me although it rides very well.

Ice is complete pants! IMHO.

Cool

de-catted, full scooby sport system with group A down pipe, itg panel filter, colour coded sills,
and to come in 2 weeks morettes and rear spoiler and will have to get the car lowered as it sits high.
all in all a nice motor that handles like its on rails but slow with standard exhaust system, new system really gets the motor movin and sound the part, cant get 25mpg but i drove the car like an impreza should be driven thats why i never bought a metro.
if subaru had put the morettes & high spoiler on from the factory they would havce won more fans on its release, but i prefer my01 to my00 which i px'd for it !!!
oh ye i was gonna buy a p1 last week but on the test drive it was no quicker than my01 so thats why i'm havin the bits put on my01 soon.

Blue STi7.

Mods... well some bird shat on the windscreen the day after I washed it. Does that count?

It's got a tank full of genuine 100 octane super unleaded and some very scuffed, bobbly tyres.

Well on a quick count, I make that about 22 happy owners and one unhappy so far.
If I worked for gallup that would be a national survey stating "91% of MY01 owners are happy with their car"/ , not bad considering the slating the car gets on here
Any more want to add the survey??

I've got the German RS model and *love* it (not bad coming from a former Escort Cos owner!).
Done 3000k's and getting faster all the time, although the 99 octane fuel helps. <g>
