WRX type r? non sti
#1
I have just been informed by fullonloon that there is such a thing as a wrx type r (v limited too). As in a two door wrx, that is not an sti.
Can anyone else confirm this?
Has anyone got one for sure?
If so, then I have serious chunk of missing knowledge, and that pi55es me off!

Just checked sidc faq, and it appears tere is actual;ly a special edition wrx RA v limitd, which is also two door.
It would appear that there is one for sale in the private section, which is why I asked.
Seems like a very rare car indeed.
There appears to have been a version four and a version five.
Sorry for answering my own question, btu at least I know now.
Wonder what difference it makes.

I have a '99 model WRX RA Limited Edition, (it doesn't say V-Limited on the dash plate, it says Limited Edition. 1000 of these made, 4 door of course. In the same year a run of 1000 WRX STi RA's (V-limited 4 door) were done.
There was also a run of WRX STi type R V-limited ( 2 door.)
All these cars were featured in the same sales brochure in Japan but there was no non STi 2 doors (type R) in the brochure as far as I know.

I could be wrong but I think a chap called Showtime used to have one, don't remember it being a STi. It was in that dark mica blue, darker than both the DMB we get here and the sonic blue.
He hasn't posted for a while as I think he sold it about 6 months or so ago...

I went to look at one just before I got the 22B. Seller had described it as an STI4 V-ltd, but when I got there :
2 pot front brakes.
No adjustable diff
No I/C spray
Did have ABS.
Did the fancy blue front seats as per V-ltd's.
Did have a roof vent.
I yelled at the dealer about wasting my time and felt better afterwards.

Adam, was tempted to buy one before going with the STI type-R. I always wanted a v-ltd. 1000 of these puppies were made - you just don't hear about them as people wrongly think they are STI's.

Adam,
I've seen one! It was a 555 limited edition 2 door in rally blue based on the Sti 3 generation cars, ie with the early dash.
Basically looked like a 2 door version of a 97 model year car, ie low spoiler, 2 pots etc...
Saw one on an R plate at a used car dealer in Thatcham...I think it was Hallmark cars...about 2 years ago, this one didn't have a roof vent, and had silver 16" 5 spoke wheels.
