Question

Can anyone give me actual experience on the servicing costs for an STi over say 12 or 24 months?

I'm trying to do a deal with my employer so that he covers the cost of it

I'm starting off at £200 per month, based on 50k miles per year, to cover servicing and tyres.

Thanks

T

50k per annum would be 5 services, 2 major at say 400 quid, 3 minor at say 120 quid so that equals 1160 quid (now id service the car more regulary if i were you so add another 400 quid to that to make 1560).
Tyres are quite expensive, say 160 quid each... that makes 640 quid.... fuel costs per tank, 250 miles per tank 40 quid a time, 8k in fuel..... now brake pads are over 250 quid for fronts, discs will be over 300 quid each, your probably going to go though 2 sets of each so.... 1200 for brake discs, 500 for pads (and i havnt included rear here either!)
so lets add it all up

1200, brake discs
500, pads,
8000, for fuel
1280, for tyres
1560, for servicing....

Grand total of....

12540
ie over 1k per month!

Don't forget the insurance and the absolutely crippling depreciation from doing 50,000 miles a year.

Petrol and insurance are already paid for separately.

What a generous employer I have

The dealer suggested that a 3 year old STRi, regularly serviced, would have a trade in value of 7k. Haven't really taken much notice of this, though.

TonyB

Thanks for the breakdown of the stats.

Think I'll up the figure to £300 per month and see what the boss says. Anything higher and I won't be around long enough to get a penny, methinks.

I'll swallow the rest and put it down to pleasure of driving.

With the sort of mileage you would be doing i wouldnt really get an STI
you will find its THE highest bracket for emissions, your boss definately wont like that as it costs over 1/3 of the cars value or something per year... ie 8.5k in tax.....
You will find that we havnt added any minor bits your going to need to keep your car on the road, its a very expensive car and you may find its cheaper to run a 330di BMW (by a long way) than it is to run an STi7.
You can only run this car on 98ron fuel (ie optimax) it only has a 60k warranty (or 3 yrs) so your going to be out of that by the beginning of the second year, it will cost you alot of money to keep on the road (well your boss anyway ) but depending on your job, some people will be intimidated by you turning up to meet clients in it, not good for you oh and your looking at 500 quid per month minimum still, even without fuel and insurance, like its been said, we only went for the major items, the minor items will cover the rest....
