Is it me or what? Took the car out yesterday, having checked all the bodywork first to make sure nothing untoward had happened the previous evening. All is well.

Step out the car, 50 miles later, and there's zillions of tiny scrathes all over the paintwork. If I had walked away from the car and then come back to it I would have sworn that someone of indeterminate parentage had been at it. However that's not the case at all.

All I can say is that the most probable cause of the damage was the air travelling over the body work (amazing). Anyone else experienced this?

I know Subaru use water based paints which seem prone to easy damage. However this is taking the p1$$, I think. The only way I can get some of the scratches out is to polish them out. The rest will probably have to be T-cut. Bummer.

It's the flies, they've cottoned on to us motorists, they're now wearing Dainese body armour

On a more serious note, I know what you mean, Bloody cat used my front drivers wheel as a clawing tree and the jumped onto the bonnet leaving me with a nice unpainted line.

All Subaru paint is crap quality - it's seriously thin.

That's why I got Armourfend and the full Wax Wizard treatment within the 1st week of getting my STi 7. It won't cure the problem but it will help.....

Do you have cats in your area ?

Sometimes the little fluffy b@stards crawl all over your pride and joy and leave a trail of destruction as proof.

Mutant Matt,

Already done the Wax Wizard thing (great lad). Any info on the armourfend please ie where from, how much, etc? Cheers.

Devils R, definitely not the cats, as the car was ok befoe I stepped in it. I stepped out immediately after the drive and the rest you know.

If this carries on I will be into a full respray in a year. Now even my MY00 was not this bad.

Cr$p really when you just spent shedloads on a car, and its not even a month old yet!

WB,

Armourfend are in Nazing, Hertfordshire but they will also travel to wherever you are. For a Non-Prodrive STi including:

Front bumper including lower radiator orafice egde and tow hole
Bonnet
Grill sides
Mirrors
under door handles

£281 inc (with 10% SIDC discount)

The man to speak to is Keith Mansfield and make it clear which STi you have (as the fronts are quite different and they need to bring the right bits!!!!)
