A question I am constantly asked is whether my car is MY00 or MY99. I'm sure this has been discussed previously....but after some searching I gave up. The car is a 555 Blue Sedan...bought in Sweden. As I know most of you will know the differences....any chance of a list....please.

Main differences are 00 car gets colour coded door handles, mirrors and sills a slightly different centre console and different wheels, other than that there is not a great deal of difference.

I told you last time this subject was raised about the variable wipers on the front! Dead handy. There are two map lights driver and passenger. Does the MY99 have the little cradle in the glove compartment for the manual?

Don't forget, 2 coat hooks in the back! Handy for us company car drivers.

I noticed something else this weekend!! When you switch on the rear fog light the switch does not stay in. Further experimentation uncovered the fact that the next time you turn on the lights the fog light has switched itself off.

Likewise with the heated rear window in that the next time you start the car it has switched itself off aswell.

I don't know if this is an MY99/MY00 thing but these features were certainly not on my MY98 Sport if my memory serves me correctly.

Full points to Subaru for the rear fog thing - shame a few more manufacturers don't choose to join in!!

All the best chaps,

Otis.

Just remembered
the tone of orange on the spare skinny is half a shade different

Great news about coat hooks can hardly wait to dash down and have a fiddle with those

Unfortunately they didn't see fit to do the same thing with the front fogs - though having said that, as most of us replace them with Cibies or PIAA's, we prefer it that way anyway

Also you guys are forgetting the cool metallised dash from the RB5, which scratches when you wipe the dust of it with a duster

Richard,

Please don't give the game away. If word gets out that we know how to use dusters.....

regarding the rear fog lamp/heated rear window auto switch off thing, this was on the MY99 aswell.
i'm with you on this for the rear fog lamp, an excellent feature which all manufacturers should adopt.

Colour coded sills? My dealer offered to colour code the sills and orange thingies in the front bumper for £100 on my MY00, don't know whether to bother or not. I would like to see it on someone elses first! Anyone had a similar offer?

Thumbs up

Grubby,

I asked my dealer (Robinsons, Rochdale) to colour code the orange thingies in the bumper, didn't bother with sills cos a)they get kicked too much and b) black looks ok against deep blue mica of the car anyway.

Told me it was about £30 and did it but never bothered to charge me. Top chaps!

Barry,

I think you are right, the orange bits probably need doing but I will leave the sills. I could always get them done at a later date if I change my mind. Need to wait a while yet for delivery anyway, plenty of thinking time yet.
