Todays Star, page 6, "The Perfect Getaway Cars" article.

"ScoobyNet - the website of the Impreza Owners' Club - has now warned members to be vigilant at all times in case criminals follow them home"

It then quotes a few posts and repeats some of the advice given.

Not the best of reasons to make a national news paper but fame nevertheless

Its also nothing to do with SIDC

But then you cant expect the national press to actually report anyhting correctly.

Hi All

Yeah, it was Top Gear that started this with their article about the scooby and evo crime. They called us "the site of the subaru owner's club" and I think the daily star have just quoted that.

Might have to do a press release so everyone is clear about the differences.

Well spotted though Ian.

Cheers

Simon

I am open to question on this but I am confident that newspaper law states that a newspaper has to print ONE accurate factual piece of information per edition. But, this DOES include the date! Ahem.

Red Alert Shields Up,

Once the Tabloid Journo's have got a source like Scoobynet in there favorites column God knows what they'll start to quote,Believe me I've seen it first hand on an aviation Pilots network bulletin board, bad news!

Just be extra careful whats said on here especially if ever a sube makes the headlines,i.e Crash/Death etc.........

Cool

Is that right? Print anything we say will they?

Right then - "Subaru Imprezas are now officially the most expensive 2nd hand car available in the UK. The rare 97MY 5-door in the popular green colour is almost unobtainable for less than £40,000. These are sure to appreciate further so snap one up now!"

...and...

"official figures put Subaru drivers at the top of the safety league, with only 1 accident per 750,000 miles driven. This combined with high security and low repair costs now place the Impreza in insurance group 2, with quotes of £2.50 per year fully comp now common"

I wish!

Red face

As a regular of an aviation bulletin board (the one 555 BOY refers to? Pprune?) I can say that we get a good share of journos trawling around on there looking for comment and/or just taking direct quotes out of the pages. I don't imagine there's a great deal within the pages of Scoobynet to excite the press but you can never be too careful when it comes to the press....

That's a valid point by 555boy and SimonH though - once it's in print, it'll be quoted by more and more publications, gradually getting less accurate as time goes on.
Something to think about, but let's face it we're not going to change the cr@p we post otherwise it'd be no fun at all!

I hate to disillusion you guys, but newspapers have been trawling though pages like ours for ages, and they are not unfamiliar with the SIDC site.

Last year the Sun ran a pic of a member's car which caused an enourmous storm in a teacup. Much pointing of fingers and waving of handbags ensued. Especially when it became common knowledge that not only did I work for them, but it was my pic.

It was only when it became apparent that it had been lifted from the SIDC members gallery, where it had been posted by the driver, that things calmed down.

They've got bigger people to stitch up than us.
