I just DO NOT Believe this !!!!!

After 3 1/2 weeks of doing nothing about getting my Scooby back on the road Garage A FINALLY got their act together and got the bits ordered with through Dealer B.
This took several phone calls by me AND Supplier C and Dealer B to try and explain to the Garage A that unless Garage A ordered bits Garage A wouldn't have a delivery!

Garages A finally ordered the bits on Monday this week.
Dealer B turned the order around in a day ! 34 separate items (They even sorted getting another bonnet cos the one that arrived was damaged !) They arrange to deliver to the garage today.
EXCELLENT JOB DONE BY Dealer B AND Supplier C.

Dealer B arrive at Garage A to deliver and when ask for payment are told effectively that they don't have anyone around to pay !! so the van get's re-loaded and my bits go back to Dealer A

What a bloody farce

Jods. Just right. It was the dealer and the garage that was confusing me.

When I was rear ended last year Dealer B was very good at sorting everything out.

I got a call this morning from the repair shop
(Approved by Pivilege) to tell me that they cannot get hold of airbags for my 99 T Reg Impreza Turbo. I bought the car 2 yrs ago from a Subaru dealership in Middlesex. The insurance guy says that their responsibility ends at the cost of the repair and offers up 5.5K ?? He says that I might be able to flog it to a salvage co to "Make up the shortfall" !!!

Jesus H Christ - It was a minor impact and cos the bags popped I'm being told the car is a write off ????

I am waiting for a call back from the dealers who sold me the car but am very concerned about the way this is going.

Oh - The car came from Northern Ireland originally (Part of UK as I thought) but I am told that this makes it an IMPORT so nothing can be done ?????????????

I don't think that's correct about N Ireland. I live there and my MY00 is considered a UK car and not an import...and I'm insured by an English firm...never heard that line before..

This sucks!

If they have tried to get hold of the airbags then they have already accepted that they are part of the repair - IMHO.

Why not contact IM - 0121 522 2000, ask for Subaru parts dept and check on avaliability yourself.

Call the insurance onbudsmen(sp) and talk to them, the airbags should be part of the repair, FFS - the airbags cannot be that hard to get hold of.

Good luck!

Ok - just spoke to IM and they have passenger airbags in stock and expect drivers side bags in about a week.

He also informed me that Legally ONLY a SUBARU Dealership can fit a Subaru Airbag system. So when the repair shop told me it was impossible to fix and I should therefore "Write it off" he was talking complete B0ll0cks.

I guess next step is to contact Insurers to get agreement to have car shifted to Subaru dealership.!

Right

Three outcomes suggested by Insurance Co.

1. Wait the estimated 1 to 2 wks for Airbags to arrive in UK then the repairer will do the work before passing to Subaru to have bags installed.

2. Take a cheque for approx £5k and get repairs done myself

3. Write off - Suggested this morning at 8.30 by phone by someone from repairers (Nice way to start the day !
(Ins Co say they wouldn't want to go this route)

Think I'll go for option 1.

So whilst sorting this out I got talking to Dealer A about a pro-drive conversion. around 2k and gives a noticable boost.
Called insurance co and they say it'll add...

Wait for it

Not mentioning names, but I had loads of problems with aforementioned garage and payments etc, my old DBM spent ages in there with 2 gear box repleacements (due to so called design fault which I think was inadequate repairs the first time)....they had it that long I thought they were renting it out as a courtesy car...Also watch out cause mine was seen in Stevenage when it was supposed to be broken...make a note of the mileage etc before leaving it !

Exclamation

jods and bits and peices

can you reword your last post.
1. I'm not sure if it's the repair shop or Quenby's you are referring to as 'the garage'
2. Just a hint for everyone and one that I have to keep in mind myself. Keep it factual and ensure that you say nothing that cannot be supported by mutually recognised fact.

E.G Garage A are all prats - Not true, they may or may not be prats but you cannot prove it. This sort of post will be editted.

E.g Garage A took 2 weeks to order the bit, Garage B did it in a day. This is OK and can be proven.

Load of crap about your car being an import. All cars from N. Ireland are registered differently due to bizzare lack of communication between DVLA in mainland UK and N.I. and that is it.
Don't accept any silly excuses about this.
N.I. Subaru dealers sell same cars as mainland UK

Thanks Jods, that confirmed what I thought. I was quoted an approximate price of £1000 for the repair, although only have the drivers side (or did )

That probably accounts for why I still have some gaffer-tape holding the blown airbag compartment down
