incident happened main traffic lights on trowel road heading towards ilkeston( nott'm road) (balloon [something])
11.45pm 15/07/02

i decided to post this, to warn other drivers as i don't want the same thing that happened to me to happen to any one else

whilst i was waiting on the traffic lights 3 speeding cars came from behind one swerved to my right, then right in front of me with my front bumper touching his passenger side.
the other went right up my bak bumper blocking me incase i was to reverse out, third went to my left, passenger side.

the driver from the rear car came to my side window and demanded me to get out the car,
all these people had some type of wrap around their face(imagine saudi arabia type )

i panicked and tried to barge my way out hitting the car in front he moved with me blocking more of my way i reversed out as quick as i could and put my foot down heading ilkeston. they all then headed towards coventry lane.

my bumper was damaged same goes to the right wing.

the worse bit was earlier on the morning i picked up my car from the bodyshop with a bodykit it hurts me the most :.-(

i reported the incident to the police whom was useless, however they told me earlier on before a very similar incident happened to another subaru driver in mapperley, he wasn't as lucky as i was i had a damaged car, he , himself was injured

I think there's a lot to be said for a can of "Mace" or police type pepper spray in the side pocket.
Wot do others think?

You did the only thing you could. Some school of thought would say just hand over the car but sod that. Who's to say they don't whack you even if you give up. You can fix the car.

to mega_stream

the MF managed to get away so i didn't hit him

to alcazar

i will get done for that, however i did try to buy a small baseball bat without any luck

to Alas

i did thought of doing that because i have a tracker installed
but what happens if i get out of the call they beat me up until i have brain damage in case i try to get details (ie reg number) as people said to me damage to the car can be repaired but not to a person

wwp8 - if you are going to "carry" something make sure its a large maglite, not a bat or something that could be seen as a weapon

thats terrible anyway, nice to see the old bill were as helpful as ever

that is ****e luck mate.
I live near bramcote, and I know the bit of road you mention..
thats terrible about plod too... give em some real criminals and they dont want to know; yet give em a speed gun and they are more than happy to apprehend..

I'll keep it in mind when I get my P1...
Maglite at the ready...

There have been three Scooby car jacks in Sheffield in the past 3 months - even to the point of me avoiding the ring road at nights. After a recent boulder through the front door (typical steal keys steal car attempt) the coppers admitted they have been tracking the gang for weeks.....following a T5R with diesel 306's. Bet the real traffic cops were far too busy.

FFS, glad to hear you are ok. I had a pick axe put into the rear of another car previously and would have no quarms about running the b's over. Did you see what type of cars or any parts of regs so we can be on the watch out.

yeah - i wouldn't get out of the car for love nor money - once you leave the car that's it - they can do wtf they want with you - not a good idea...

that y i keep a maglite tucked inbetween the passenger front seat and the handbrake console area (i.e. so the lense is sticking up in the air stops it from rattling about and is very quick access )...

also tempted to get a water spray bottle (type to spray window cleaner fluid) and fill it with de-icer - much more effective - uhm

I think the best thing to do is arm your windows with the sealant that enable rocks to be thrown at them without breaking, install blackjack for £200 and also carry a semi-automatic pistol. With this you will be able to shoot someone who is trying to take your car.

At least you are ok,i know it sounds stupid but it dont matter what condition the car is as long as you are allright,

So if anyone has anything like this happen to them just do what ever you need to do as long as you are safe.

KNOCK THE BA5TARD5 OVER.

KEEP A LOOK OUT

This is bad news, what can you do??? three guys against one?
Glad you got through it OK and hopefully it was an icolated incident.
Did you notice them following you??
Had you been on the Motorway, I`m wondering if they clocked you further away and pounced near Ilkeston.

That's not all. Two nights ago there was an attempted theft of an Impreza from a friend of mine in Nottingham. Haven't got the full details, but it sounds like a gun was involved. Will post more when I speak to him (and if he's happy for the warning to go out)

Pleased your alright there.....

Frightening, I'm sometimes using that route on my way home from work! Think if this happened to me I might just get rid.

Excellent idea from the guy above about contacting the local media, sure the Post would be interested, they're always up for a bit of drama.

Pleased I read a thread on here how to switch on the auto door locking on the Sigma M30, might just give me that extra second before they cave the window in....

Just remember a car is easily fixed you aint!!

Nope, I still think mace or a pepper spray: Ok, so you get "done ".
Wot you going to get? Slap on the wrists. I can go with that if it teaches these b@st@rds a lesson.
Off to france in a week or so. They sell mace or sprays in the armouries over there..................

Christ, this is all getting far too close to home.. I think I'm going to have to be a little more vigilent (spelling?) from now on.
Glad that you are ok though.

I second snowcrash's idea about the maglite - that really is an excellent place to put it, I chucked the car around the lake district for a long weekend and it didn't even move However, you don't even really have to stretch from the drivers seat to have it in your hand in a second

Glad you're ok...can't believe it's hitting Nottingham and Sheffield now too

oh yeah i forgot the people had no distinctive things about them
as they were properly wrapped over head

all 3 cars had golf size (not as tall though) or smaller Ie hatchback without the extar boot not escort
cars all were dark coloured so imaging black or navy blue etc

i can't get the reg plate o they were too close to me

even though they might have got fake numbers
