Question

Hi,

I am just about to buy a Performance backbox for my MY00 Turbo, however I don't want one that is stupidly loud. I made this mistake with my Peugeot 106 GTI. It sounded great at tick over, but over 4000rpm it was unbearably loud in the car.

Any suggestions and costs?.

Cheers

Rob.

i found the prodrive back box fairly quiet.
but for what its worth, the ss one is the better sounding one. if u keep the cats, it aint too loud at all, sounds good. go for a full decat, and its ear muff time. its ok for a while, but if i had to do long journeys regularly it would get on my nerves.

Cool

Go for the Prodrive one - about £300 ish fitted. Again, nice at idle and pootling around but almost un-noticeable when motorway cruising

Rob.
I started the below thread with much the same dilema as you, having had a full Scorpion SS system on a Punto GT I wanted something more civilsied.

I looked into the Pro drive box and drove a car with one fitted, I would say it was a good choice for you. It idles and cruises with a nice burble but wind it up all the way and it means business. The quality is top notch too.

I was convinced to buy one until I started saving for the PPP. Doh ! even more money

Regards

Nathan

Rob588,
The Prodrive PPP (performance Pack) back box, with th e 90mm round tailpipe design, which you cannot buy except secondhand or as part of the PPP kit, is nicely muted, but good when you give it some revs, and is quiet on the motorway.

It has a 90mm tailpipe and a 2.5" pipe going into the silencer.
It is allegedly made or was made by Scorpion Exhausts.

Mellow Yellow has a Scorpion on his P1, and it has a 3" pipe going into the silencer, so is different than my PPP box.
But if they make one with the pipe sizes I have specified for the PPP box, it should sound almost if not identical.
If you can get hold of one, I do not think you would be disapointed.

Cheers MTR (Ex Scoobysport D/P, Back box, Magnex centre, oh how I used to hate motorway driving, owner)

If you want VERY quiet but is much less restrictive, I can recommend a Remus backbox.

I have one on my car (along with MRT downpipe and centre section) and it is quieter than the standard item.
