Hi Dave, just wondering, as you have the benefit of dual Sti's, do your cars suffer from a rattleing from the rear left hand side - sounds like suspension noise. Do your cars suffer - any ideas?

Many thanks

Mark

Thanks for the reply Dave,

but as you stated, that was well below par compared to your usual technical response.

Nevertheless - thanks

Hi Dave,

I'm one of the afflicted, too, and a regular updater of the threads as S-UK continue to fail to find a fix. Suggest you hook the gubbins out of the boot and have a listen.... however bad your roads are, the OSR doesn't rattle in the afflicted cars, only the NSR.

Balance of opinion is coming away from suspension itself.... but isn't settling on any other components!

Cheers

Phil

Yeah, sorry, I know Just haven't got around to looking into it. I was following the "let someone else sort it out first" route

My RB5 (MY99) makes a similar squeak/rattle from the NSR but only on two particular bumpy left hand corners in Dartford when visiting the folks - never back here in Beds. Very odd!

Phil your mate with an STI6 sounds like his exhaust aint big enough if he can still hear rattles . I also didnt say that classics dont rattle cause they do but the way people have been giving it some about build quality I would expect none in the new car .

Actually, Chris, his exhaust is - how shall we say - 'harmonious'? It'd waken the dead - and woke me (which is pretty well the same thing) the other day when he drove it past my dormitory hut at Bisley...

I was just picking up your mention of "MY99": although it's STiUK owners who are kicking up, it's clear from the threads that the problem can be found on mainstream and STi 'Old shapes' too

Cheers,

Phil

Thumbs down

My MY99 Sport gives an occasional squeek/chirping sound from the NSR when going round 90 degree left hand bends which have a few bumps. Asked my dealer to sort it a year or so ago (within warranty) but it's still occuring. Strange that both old and new shapes should be similarly afflicted.

Hi Mark

There are indeed a couple of threads in the suspension section about this....

However, as the question was asked,

Both of ours can be a bit rattly in the NSR area. HOWEVER, our local roads (rural B roads mainly) are in an appalling state of repair and would make a blancmange rattle ( , but let's not get on that subject) ; and secondly I haven't got around to emptying the jack/tools/spare/tasteful piece of hardboard out of the boot so can't really say if it is that or not.

Apologies for the crap reply, you will probably find more useful replies than mine in the appropriate thread
