release bearing probably.

Wont do the car any harm (probably), and will just whine a bit (sounds like a straight cut box)

Cool

Try checking the bolts & pins holding the pedal assembly together, with a good torch and a double jointed spine, you can see most of the mechanicals under the dash. Give them all a good wiggle to see if anything is loose.

Unhappy

CrisPduk - thanks my man

The last time I went looking under there with a torch I ended up in hospital - that is gods own truth - I was putting in the electrics for the towbar (flasher relay and lamp) - I had finished and was wiggling out of the footwell, BANG, BANG, 2 twangs from my back and I lay on the driveway unable to move!!! Ambulance jobbie!! so, I am a little loathed to attempt that place again!

I just thought that it had been discussed once before and thought it was a common 'feature' of the car in the same way as the hesitation at 3000RPM and juddering clutch!!

Thumbs up

PSL,

I had this problem with my Wagon. Turned out that the brake pipes in the engine bay, by the bulhead, were rattling against the pedal box.

So every time I accelerated I got this ghastly noise and if I hung my foot on the clutch pedal (don't recommend this) the noise died.

You need to twist/bend the pipes a little, but very carefully.

Check it out, let's know how you get on.

Cheers

WB

Thanks - but my rattles when I go over a bump in the road?? might be the same thing? but the noise can be repeated if I rock the clutch pedal - so, I reckon a loose bolt is the culprit!!

Is it a warranty item?

Pete,

Tighten the little butterfly bolts that hold the crutch adjuster
to the armpit rest.
And a little WD40 on those little rubber stoppers at the bottom
wouldnt go amiss.

Pete, maybe your mistaken, try buying a non slip mat for your boot to stop the tubs of viagra, walking stick and collection of dentures from sliding around and rattling in the back

Pete,
Have you thought that it may be your old bones that are doing the rattling.

A well padded cricketer's box should help keep the noise down.

Pete it sounds like pay back time for the gold alloys quips

Anyway on some good news, our clutch started making some funny noises and the the pressure plate exploded opps and Huxley had to drive it home from the glow worm factory area without stopping, had some fun pulling out on the A4 at woolhampton

Email me a number to contact you on and i dont mind Huxley putting his head up there and having a look for you to see what he could find.
