Guys,

what's your experience of PCP type deals? - I've been quoted about 10.5K final payment (at 3 years old and 36k miles) for a new STI.

Is that what a three year old car is worth? I realise as a 'guaranteed' future value this will be set low by the dealers but what's a real world price at this age??

Cheers

'99 model STi Vs and VIs are going for around 12-15k at the moment. I guess a 'UK sourced' STi would be a grand or two more?

15k seems like a good figure.

According to an official guide a 99T turbo has lost £9,400 from the cost new price. Mind you that's a trade value.

My std WRX has a guarenteed future value (gfv) after 3 yrs @ 30K miles of £9300. Dealer told me that it should be worth nearer £12K but it depends on the state of the car at the end of the period. i.e. if it's covered in dents, scraches and generally neglected it is obviously worth less that a "clean" car.

At the end of the day if you are intending to pay off the £10.5K then the gfv means absolutely nothing IMHO.

Although if the market drops and it's only worth 5k, you can just hand it back. That's why they set the GFV low (e.g. if they set it at 15k and it was only worth 13k they've got a 2k shortfall).
