MY 00 Wagon UK spec 26,500 miles
Driving along with my front passenger window down i can hear what is best described as a sort of light tambourine type of jangle / rattle from the front passenger side of the car.
Ive checked all the accessible bits to see if anythings loose... but to no avail.
It doesnt seem to be speed related although it goes away av low speed , it doesnt disapear when the brakes are applied.
Any thoughts? or similar experiences
The noise is loud enough to hear when driving at speed especially when a wall or similar reflects the sound back.

Yes I am on the origonal set, they are due for replacement along with new discs under warranty in the next couple of weeks anyway.
Pardon my ignorance, but wear spring ?
No warning light ?

Well they can either be seen as a poor mans wear indicator or a simplisitic but brilliant diagnostic tool to avoid electrical glitches you get with some fancier systems (oh I remember my 80s Escort and stuffing silver paper into the connections).
On each pair of pads is a steel clip that is meant to make a noise as the pad wears down to replacement level.
Mine seem to come loose regularly and make a tinkling noise that I can hear with the window down.
I may be TOTALLY WRONG and it could be something a bit more serious but start with the simple things first.
