Anyone had this done recently at the dealers? Two questions..
1) How much did ya pay
2) Was there any noticable performance difference?
I asked my dealer about resetting the ECU while it was in and he looked at me gone out
Scary!!
I explained that I ran the car in on Normal unleaded and then used SUL ever since. I don't know if the scoob needs a reset I was just asking.
He said that they would disconnect the battery for half an hour and that would do it!
Am I being thick here but will disconnecting the ECU make it default back to its factory settings and/or back to the lowest ron fuel settings that it has experienced (erring on the side of caution).
I don't want it to do that, I want to make sure that the ECU knows that the car is now running on SUL. I know that the thing is meant to sense the change in fuel grade and learn, but i wanna know for sure.
Maybe it is fine as it is and don't need messing with. Who knows, cos I don't for sure and it seems that my Dealer doesn't either.

Mikey,
Disconnecting the battery is the same as an ECU reset. The ECU then advances the ignition until it detects knock, ie it will set itself up for SUL.
It does however, adjust itself over time, if you've been running on SUL for a while there should be no need for a reset. You only need to reset if you have stuck a tank of NUL in and don't want to wait for it to re-adjust to SUL.
If you are not happy with your dealer have a word with Paul from TSL on Saturday they are an authorised Subaru service centre.

We charge £107.50 for the 7.5k service, but that does include a £10 engine oil flush that not all dealers will include. Also labour rates vary wildly with aera, we are in North London, and as such suffer a massive rates bill
logiclee comments are spot on, however, you should disconnect the battery for at least 10 mins, I would go for 20.

£102....... (on a P1 - but the same I think).
ECU reset was performed, no difference in performance *at all*, but the car has been run on SUL from new......

Guys
Are these prices that you are stating for the service, labour only, all in or for everything except oil?
& - are you referring to the actual car having done 7500 miles or just a 7500 mile interval i.e. 22500, 37500, 52500?

I just had a 52500 mile service done due to age of car(although car has only completed 26500 miles.
This cost £363 but incl. front brake pads, air con re-gas & body-side protector strips.
