Default GC8 new speedometer cable won't fit

Hello people,

One of the needles on my cluster snapped off for the fuel reading on my 1994 WRX V2.

I purchased a new speedometer that was listed for my model of car, but the new speedo does not use a mechanical speedo like my old one. When it's connected with the two white side connectors, it reads the temp and fuel fine, but obviously no revs or speed.

Is there any fix or method to get the new unit working, and if I was to use the car for now with the new one plugged in, would the ECU misread anything and cause any damage? I'm guessing I would have to find the correct one for my car, but just wondering if this one could work.

Thanks for any help much appreciated!

Think you'll find you've bought UK clocks instead of JDM.
Turn them round so we can see the front.

Yeah that's exactly it! I've got the JDM version not the UK spec that the new clocks were. Sorry still new to my car. The seller was nice enough to return it and send the other version. Thanks for the help!

Would driving short distances i.e to petrol stations, would the clister without the speedo cable in cause any damage? Just while I wait for this unit to arrive.

Shouldn't do but without any vss you won't get over about 3.5/4k revs.
