Default GC8 Sump

Hi people, I've purchased my first project Subaru being a 1994 V2 Import GC8 WRX. I've noticed an oil leak coming from the sump area when I've had the car on a 2 poster.

I have never repaired an oil leak around the sump before so excuse if I'm a bit lost on this sort of job lol, but a lot of threads have mentioned lifting the engine to access the back bolts. So far I have ordered a new gasket, sealant, oil and filter. Is there anything else that I am missing to complete the job and what is the easiest way to lift the engine enough for the bolts.

Thanks guys, glad to be part of the family now.

some cars simply have rotted sumps, as std there is NO gasket but a layer of Threebond sealant which IMO is far more resilient on a road car
we do occasionally us gaskets on race cars but only because they get routine work

you ideally require an engine brace bar as the rear most bolts are inaccessible
