Oil leak
Hi
The sump on my 03 STi is leaking. One corner has rusted. Any body else suffered the same and how easy isit to fix. Some bolts look like a pig to get to.

The only way to get the sump off is to jack the engine or drop the subframe - I've been looking into it because I have a rusting sump that I suspect will go at some point so I was going to fit some baffle plates - once you can get to the nuts at the back it is simple - no gasket just triplebond, replace the nuts and easier if you remove the oil filter. A kit with the triple bond is about 100 quid in ICP.

I guess you could drain the oil and give it a chance to dry out and then patch it but no idea how long that would last. If you weld it the heat could buckle the sump and you wouldn't get it rust proofed on the inside

The circular lump on the head of the banjo bolt signifies it has a filter.
Someone rebuilt my engine before I bought the car and didn't know that. They fitted the filter to the water supply to the turbo. That restricted flow damaging the seals. That put oil into the exhaust which killed the cat.
