Default Water leak in boot

Hi all, I have been trying to locate a leak in the boot of my subaru that's caused a damp, mouldy smell.

I realised the boot carpet was getting damp after rainfall, and have located the approximate area that the water is leaking from. Is this due to a badly sealed rear window would you think?

Water is running down the area highlighted and dripping onto the boot floor.

Had the same problem. I removed the rubber boot seal and cleaned it up along with the metalwork it slots on. There are areas of corrosion on mine that I treated with k rust. I then smeared liberal amounts of Vaseline around the lip and re seated the boot seal, and smeared more Vaseline around the boot seal where it seats.
Seems to have sorted it for now.

I have a nice bit of corrosion on my bit seal too, but the water appears to be above the boot seal. Did you find it on this exact area? I'll definitely clean it up and give it a go. Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, appeared to be along the seem you have shown, but that will be capillary action of the water getting under the seal and travelling along that seem. Got to be worth a go for a couple of quid pot of Vaseline.

Don’t forget to check the spare wheel well. Mine had quite a lot of water collected in it.

Emptied the boot, I'll take the spare out tomorrow when I attempt a fix.

Thanks, I appreciate the links and help.

yeh I realised i've got a similar issue. A lot of condensation on the underside of the boot lid. going to take a look this weekend, but my guesses being (from what i've found online) is that the seal on my spoiler may need re-doing, or the old trunk seal issue.

You can also try loosening the boot catch bolts and tapping the catch down with a hammer 1 or 2mm
This will make the boot seal slightly tighter onto the seal.
Check the bolts for the spoiler too, they may need new seals.
