Hi there, I had not used my car in about a month so it sat outside in all that time and when i decided to give it a claen to my dissmay there was water in the boot floor. I must addmit I had'nt
looked at the spare wheel since it left the dealer cause I hardly use it. So last night I dried the boot floor and put the hairdrier to it as well but it rained last night and there was water in it again about half a coffee mug's worth. I had a spoiler fitted months back but it was'nt it plus the boot carpet and the boot contents was'nt wet so whe I lifted the piece of wood underneath the carpet there seems to be water drops around the boot floor in between the rear lights but the opposite side of the boot underneath the speakers was dry, so maybe it's the seals i don't know but I will take it back to the dealers this week.
Has anyone had this problem ? I don't think the cars ever had a
rear shunt but there was minute tears on the rubber seals which runs around the rear lights on the n/s and o/s. The car in question is a 98 R reg impreza turbo.

David- The seals behind the lights were dry,I don't know it's pissing me off. There was a small trickle of water running down the sealent from the boot floor to the wheel well. The sealent sits close to the rear light cluster but the cluster was dry.
I have lined the boot floor with news paper so tomorow morning I
hope to have an idea where the leak is coming from. I still have warranty left but I don't know if this will be covered.

Yes, it's common.

I would double, and triple check the light clusters. Specifically, for no apparent reason, the passenger side one.

Mine was leaking very slightly and the boot was soon flooded. My local garage sealed it back in with a huge amount of gunk - job done. The light will never come out again though...

i had this, subaru dealer said it was the rear light clusters but....
it wasn't
the car had had a tow bar fitted (and then removed) the hole where the wires came through had not be 'bunged up' when they removed the tow bar...hence water coming in through there!

check the wheel arches for dry stains of water ingress, especially at the top. Remove the side panels to have a look.

Thanks for the replies, from the looks of things the leak seems to be comming from the passenger side rear light cluster. It will get
rectified from the local subaru dealer this week. cheers agian.
