Default Gearbox oil

Hi guys some of your might know we had a full overhaul on our scooby not so long ago which included all oils replaced etc. I noticed we had abit of oil on the 21mm nut so decided yesterday to fit a new washer. When we drained the oil it looked like this which I was a bit surprised how bad it was for 600 miles we supplied them with 4 liters of motul 75w90 do you think they only drained the front diff and just kept the rest luckily I had a couple of bottles spare so I know it fresh that's gone back in

That's only to get it all out there's only one fill hole which fills the whole box and diff.

Yeah not asking about the fill hole dude I'm asking on peoples opinion if all the oil got drained out I'm pretty sure the oil shouldn't be this bad after 600 miles

i’m aware of the two plugs to un do , even if the front one was not removed then i will still expect most of it to drain out any way , as it’s one fluid for both so they must meet , if it’s a honest garage ask them , the oil may not be as bad as what you expect , after 30 k oil change the oil looks ok on the dip stick when it’s all in one container then it tends to look much worse than it really is 👍

Tbh they will just say they did it, they left our driver side wheel nuts loose and blamed it on kids in the area even the locker was loose after that I've not used them again plus they added 1400 onto the labour bill. Thing is I have had it changed once a year so should never be more then 3k miles old in there. I know what you mean about it looks worse in a container just surprised how bad it is after 600 miles

i let mine sit and drain for quite a while so it all comes out , maybe they did not , they sound a bit crap as a garage , if you do it yearly which is probably an over kill unless your mileage is high ( your choice ) then i would not be that bothered by it as either way it’s well within a service schedule , it’s quite easy to do , not considered doing it yourself or no where to work on it , at least that way you know it’s been done properly , maybe ask on here for a better garage in your local area 👍😁

no need to do gearbox or rear diff oils yearly?? particuarly if using a good quality oil like Gear300..........

on the STi 6spd the shape of the front diff housing means there is still probably towards half of the 4ltr capacity retained if you don't release both plugs.......
