Default Replacement key options

I have the 2 button Subaru key on my 06 WRX as in the link below. The issue with them is that they really don't wear well and as such, I was wondering what the replacement options are. Am I stuck with using just another of the original shells or is there an after market or more modern original item that I can transplant my key into?

Is this a UK car?? If it is it should have single button keys which incorporates the UK fitted sigma alarm fob as well.
If not AFAIK, you are stuck with the 2 button key which activates the keyless entry system direct.

The car is full UK spec and first registered in the UK as new, but I imported it from Malta so it has the different key fob. The ones you are talking about were fitted as part of the main dealer supply chain apparently.

So I am stuck with just a new carcass then?

Yes the 2 button covers were changed to a single button cover with sigma pcb fitted, on import at Subaru UK's prep site in Quedgeley.

Subaru Replacement Key Services UK used to do some good replacements but seems to have gone quiet since covid.

Thanks, dropped them a message so lets see. The both keys I have work fine, it's just cosmetics, they look rough!

If its the same name as on the keyring then @immotec is the guy who should be able to sort out your keys. Loads of people on here have used him.

Yes, I’ve sent them a message through Facebook for a replacement key about a week ago and they’ve not got back to me. Does anyone on here know of anyone else that could supply a replacement key. Thanks.

hi Rob, if you messaged me on Facebook I haven't got it, but I've just seen and replied to your message on here with the contact details, which are also on the keyring above 👍
Thanks tom

Slightly off topic mate but you wouldn't happen to be able to get classic keys. They weren't coded or anything.

my 97 classic is coded. I can get aftermarket blank keys and cut and clone them where they are coded though.

Thanks mate. On my project car I can't work out if the barrel on the boot is just stuck or has been replaced. If it has then I'll be looking to change the whole lock set. With it running a modified/after market ecu and alarm system the code side of things is handled by the fob I think . I'm not in a position just yet to sort this out because there is still so much to do on the list but is there any chance you could share some pics of the keys or a link to them. I know you're busy so no worries if you can't and I'll drop you a message closer to the time or something

something similar to this, although this is the later profile. Regarding the boot, sometimes they seize. Try to turn key, if it moves slightly it's possible a worn key or wrong key, if you post the lock I can cut a new key to suit. If it doesn't even twitch it's potentially seized .
