Default Any ideas where to locate the 3 port boost solenoid too ?

My car originally came with the 2 port boost solenoid, to have it mapped i needed to change to a 3 port boost solenoid but where do you locate this too rather than it just lying on the intake manifold. The 2 port had a bolt hole in so it could be fixed to the intake manifold, obviously the 3 port aftermarket ones don't, mine is an RCM one. Ive got a Perrin solenoid cover, other than possibly being able to cable tie it to that im not coming up with many other options, it's on a 2.5 hatch. Some pics would be good from those that have found a soloution, Bob who mapped my car said to keep the silicone hoses as short as possible which is what i'll try to do.

It can go anywhere convenient, not essential for the hoses to be as short as possible. Mine was cable tied to the inlet, but now sits on a bespoke bracket.

I would presume you are getting the car re-mapped straight after fitting the 3 port? Don't drive it before it's been mapped on the new 3 port.

It's already been mapped, the 3 port boost solenoid was fitted on the day of the mapping prior to having it mapped, it's just finding a better, neater place to put it now rather than having it resting on the intake manifold.

Mine was fitted by Bob Rawle to the same point the two port one came off.
It has it's own bracket and afaik is a genuine Subaru part.

Can't you just redrill the cover and fit it in the existing location or is the Pierburg too big to fit under it?? or does yours not have the mounting feet??

Don, i've not got good shifts at work this week as im finishing around 11pm, i'm off at the weekend so i'll take a good look at things over the weekend, i'm sure their are a few options if i look at it proper, like what you suggested. It's going into Chevron Motorsport in the near future so if i can't find a better option i'm sure they can fabricate me a bracket for it.

Good turbine tuning is also important as well as a good solenoid, I found 3.5 ecoboost turbo upgrade kit and updated my Ecoboost Turbo from thanks to this site https://nashvilleperformance.com/3-5...turbo-upgrade/ there is such a technology that the turbocharger and direct injection work in tandem to increase efficiency fuel and airflow. And of course, the 3-port solenoid is essential for best performance.

I like that! Like the thread starter! Mine is sitting on the inlet manifold. Is that something enginetuner make and sell generally or did they just make one for you ?

I've looked at every way to try and fit this 3 port boost solenoid underneath the Perrin boost solenoid cover but it looks very difficult as the 3 port boost solenoid is a fair bit bigger than the original 2 port one that was used as stock, the Perrin cover itself was probably designed to hide the stock 2 port solenoid and not a 3 port one. I think the companies like Perrin need to bring out taller covers to move with the times as a lot of people change from a 2 port to a 3 port one, upto now all i can come up with is possibly cable tying it to the cover somewhere, its just too big and bulky with all the boost pipes attached to it to fit underneath, when you try to fit it underneath you tend to bend and kink at least one of the pipes which obviously isn't good.

If anyone comes up with anything feel free to post a pic, i like the sound of that engine tuner option if its available to buy as a part.

i thought it had 2 pre drilled holes on the front for a 3 port ?

Not pre drilled holes as such, it has legs either side where you could slide a small bolt through but which ever way you try and turn it the boost solenoid won't fit under the Perrin cover, well not with any boost pipes attached as they'll just squash and kink if you try.

That’s the same 3 port as mine. Seems pointless then the cover if it doesn’t fit a 3 port on it. Maybe a local fabricator will help you

Yeah it's impossible to fit under a cover youd need to fabricate a bracket

I just mounted mine on top of original cover then bent cover down in towards manifold so that it's sort of mounted on its side.

I keep meaning to paint the bracket/cover black so it looks a bit neater

More up to date pic on mine now that the AOS is removed along with the head breather hard pipe
