Hey folks, I've just rejoined the scooby Community after a few years away with buying a 2010 hatch wrx and unfortunately the turbo has blown so I am looking for a direct replacement but struggling to identify which turbo came as standard on the wrx. Any help would be appreciated and if someone has a good one for sale.....
the turbo used on the hatch wrx is specific turbo nose/coupling to the intercooler for hatch wrx only so you cant for example get one from an STI or newage etc
Just to add to this
The OEM fit for the MY09/10 WRX is a TD04L (14411AA710) (Legacy style turbo to intercooler bolted fitment)
However the "usual" upgrade route is to a VF52 as used in the WRXS model (not the UK's Prodrive upgraded WRXs)
Ok thanks for the prompt replies guys, can I get a vf52 and fit it directly to the standard pipework and run it without mapping?. Mapping is on the list but wasn't wanting to do it now.
or a hybrid re build on your current turbo assuming it can be re built ? 👍
I have found one on ebay for a hatch (second hand ) which I'll send off to get rebuilt, that way it should be a one off one on job.
If I went hybrid can it be run as is until I get organised to get a remap?
When i got my re build done by Len at Subaru4u, as best i can remember he would disconnect the turbo boost pipe where the restrictor pea is in the pipe , and put a starboard piece of pipe in , so the car during run in would produce low boost only , so you can you drive it with out the boost building up too much , can you drive it pre re map , in theory off boost but be careful with it until it’s mapped 👍
