Very different but very similar
Hello Troops,
Just thought i would upload some images of a recent day out . Myself with my spec c ltd ruuning 380 and two of my mates cars. One is an M E V Exocet home built kit car with an 1800 cc M X 5 engine which is now supercharged . It is running nearly 200 wheel horse and weighs 650 kg and sounds like a plane taking off whilst the white one is a Porsche Boxster s 918 auto running 315 standard. You would struggle to find three more different cars but on a blast, there is hardly anything it it. Great times. That picture is near Callander in Scotland.

I saw a very similar Exocet arrive in a Tesco car park a few years ago, the driver climbed out of the car and he was clearly buzzing!
I'd love to have a go in one.

The kit car is definately built correctly,he has built two and it can now match the Scoob and the Porsche give or take an inch or two. His missus blames me for taking him out in the two i had. Yellow one was a very rare MK Midi,450 kgs with a Yamaha R1 bike engine mid mounted, paddle shift and redline at 13,750. I did 8,000 miles in two years and had it at 130 mph one night until my missus started shouting alot as she thought we were going to take off😎! Red one was an MNR Vortx,R1 engine again, carpets and leather seats in this one and front mounted engine. Not as raw as the midi but still good for 0-60 in 4 seconds, magic times until it broke my heart and basically stripped the gears in the box,twice……..
This is at the gooseneck just before the mountain section at the isle of man. Very strange feeling doing 110 mph past the police and they do nothing as there is no speed limit on that section for 7-8 miles.

Nice pics, one of my friends has just left Subaru world and entered kit car world, they are a total blast. He has an avon tiger that recently blew it's suzuki 1100 bike engine, it's currently away getting an R1 in it. I was in it with the 1100 and it was a hoot (as well as very raw and loud ), I am kind of looking myself as my Subaru has become a weekend car.

Hello Scoobydon’t. You can have fantastic fun in them,I did 13,000 miles between the two I had in 4 years. I used to have bikes, ninjas , gsxr 750’s which I had super chipped due to my severe speed problem and the noise / revs of the bike engine in a car is what attracted me. The downside is , the bike engine and box is engineered to carry around 200-250 kegs , once you put that engine set up in a kit car which is usually around double that weight plus a bit more , the problems appear. It is fine if you do 1,000 miles a year but I was in mine a lot more and eventually the extra strain means the gears can develop hairline cracks which eventually disintegrate and the repair is expensive. A car engine set up will not have this issue as it is basically over-engineered for the weight of the kit car. I might end up with one again in future years but it would be a car engine , the financial repairs of my box going twice causing other damage broke my heart.
