Am I being paranoid? (again!)
Hi all,
2007 STi fully forged 12k ago. Mapped to V-Power.
And new block as my last block decided to very kindly shat itself.
Moving on swiftly, I'm getting concerned about my exhaust temps. I don't know what the temps actually are, and I don't think my PSi3 will tell me. But, when I switch off after even a gentle run, the exhaust heat shields or downpipe tick like mad. It's just for a while now I've been noticing it, and after 10 mins after switching off, you can hardly touch the inside bottom edge of the interwarmer scoop. Drivers side front wing can get a little toasty too.
I'm sure I didn't get this on my previous build, and my new build has never been mapped. Identical build, only standard sized Mahle this time as brand new block didn't need honing.
If anything, I'd perhaps expect to hear the ticking in the colder months (which I do) but not so much in the hotter months as it all contracts / cools.
I know it's warmer weather, but hardly the Bahamas.
Ok, I know it may be normal, but even the exhaust tip feels like it's cooking. Also, I opened the bonnet once and some water went on the turbo heat shield and bubbled away.
If I'm running too lean, would a CEL tell me? No codes stored in the PSi3 - neither current or historic. My exhaust is standard apart from a few PPP sections.
Oil level is good, Millers CFS 10-60
I could easily fry an egg on my tailpipe - and don't tempt me!

Every petrol car ticks its self cool, heat shieds ect.
With recent temps here you could fry an egg on my forehead.
Hope its nothing more serious

Yes using water, that was traced to the coolant line going to or from the turbo. We moved the clip as the hose wasn't on quite right - showed up when pressure tested.
Not a lot of coolant, just a dash every now and then I guess.
I may replace the hose, hope I haven't cooked my turbo.

I think I'll get the hose replaced and have it pressure tested again.
