Turbo blankets - benefits?

Turbo blankets - benefits?
Does a turbo blanket have any real advantage over the standard heat shield in terms of turbo efficiency?
The standard shield fits fine over my MD321H but I would consider a blanket if I could be convinced there was some advantage?
I see CDF do one for £103 which I assume would fit the MD ok?

I run them on both my scoobs. There are other benefits which are probably best explained by someone else, but I bought them for temps control to keep as much heat away from the surrounding parts as possible. With the blanket installed and a layer of DEI on the heat shield, even after a serious session I can hold the warm heat shield ! without the blanket you would lose your skin

as we all know exhausts get hot, but i've yet to hear of one that has overheated and caused damage to the exhaust housing. The hotter the better for exhaust gases, but not always the parts near the exhaust, on vauxhalls for example when they get too hot, number 3 piston tends to melt.... but the exhaust is fine :-)
