Default Mitsuboshi 5PK880

Hi,

One of these belts arrived with me today, car is a 2007 2.5 STi Hawk.
Have I ordered the right alternator belt?

I ordered one ages ago, had to be sent back as was too short by about half an inch....can't remember the 5PK number though?

I haven't taken the old belt off, but wondering if I should've got a 5PK882 instead?
The place I rang told me that the 5PK880 was the right one....

Looks like different number for the same part.

5PK is 5 ribs, 882 is the length in millimetres

So 2mm difference is naff all.

Well, that was a flippin nightmare. Loosened the tension, took the old belt off easily. Couldn't get the new belt on for love nor money, thought it was too short (again)
Pushed the alternator down as far as I could, just could not get it on.

Took me half an hour to get nowhere, old and new belts seemed identical in length. Alternator was definitely as low as it would go.
My failing technique was to get it onto the crank pulley first, then PAS pulley, then alternator - but just wouldn't go on the alternator pulley..... Seemed about 10mm too short.

After much swearing and back ache, I put the new belt over the PAS pulley then the alternator pulley, then with ease it went over the crank - WTF!!
Why is that the only way I could get it on? It's the same belt going around the same 3 pulleys.... I challenge anyone to try another way!

Must be something to do with the PAS and alternator being free wheeling pulleys??.....but man I've never struggled so much with the simplest of jobs.

There's raised guides on the two auxiliary pulleys.

Ah yes of course, that's the difference, I didn't even think about that!
