I have a JDM bugeye and the lights had hazed over so I bought the Autoglym headlight restoration kit and followed the instructions which improved the lenses by a reasonable amount but didn't make them crystal clear. The lenses have a fair bit of micro fracturing in them so no end of restoration will cure that. I've coated them with an anti-UV coating (nanolex headlight specific ceramic coating) to slow down the work I've already done but I really need new ones.
Ideally I'd prefer not to split the lenses because they never properly re-seal and I'd like to replace them with brand new versions as this is what I've done on past cars. It looks like brand new replacements don't exist and the second hand headlamps all need restoring which is a couple of hundred pound risk they don't also micro fracture.
Are my only options to either wait for a good clear set to come up for sale or risk restoring a second hand set or is there some way of getting new parts?
Hey Tim, in the same boat as you, bought a restoration kit, did it properly and it came up looking nice, not perfect, but good enough. Now there going cloudy again, i used the UV protector aswell. I looked into new JDM lights there nearly a grand.
These are ones i want, but can only find them in the USA for Left hand drive cars.
Thanks Don, I've never found that website before despite googling many times! £1,100 for a set of new lamps without the electronics - I'm glad I was sat down looking at that Not entirely sure exactly which ones I need as I have the JDM Xenons on mine, do I specifically need the A or B ones or doesn't it matter because it's only the ballast that seems to change?
Look at your VIN plate and check the "applied model" code - the fourth character will be an A or a B (meaning RevisionA /Revision B or roughly MY01/MY02)
The applied model code will be something like GDBA4EH/GDBB4EH for the WRX STI and GDBB4KH for the STI PRO (prodrive version)
Yes the actual HID headlight assembly "complete" and "body and lens" part numbers are different between revision A and B - doesn't appear to be just the ballasts.

This any good. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303130152...MAAOSwyPlbqXfd
Drivers side only as far as i can find unfortunately, i got a drivers side one from IM Parts on e-bay a couple of years back for £100, i think BN Europe who are selling this one have probably just bought the rest of them and bumped the price up like they usually do.
