Default Car shows etc...

Hi all 👍 hope all is well...so it looks like later this year the car shows will be starting up again..WOOHOO!! I can finally get back to watching my useless beloved Liverpool fc too, music festivals are getting the green light....anyone else completely over the moon and excited at the thought of all the restrictions / social distancing getting lifted? From a personal point of view I’m looking forward to the regular carvery of a Sunday, celebrating important things with the whole family, as mentioned watching the reds. Things we took for granted...YEEHAA!!

How doing chaps?
I hate the masks myself but things will never go back to 100% normal, I think the masks will remain for quite some time. I’d love to do a few shows but I’m up in central Scotland , long way to travel for the proper big ones.

I'll be honest with you mate I'm not looking forward to it at all. Who remembers the eat out to help out and the spike in cases that bought. In my mind we haven't done enough, half effort job. I would love to go to shows and meet up with you guys but are we really at a safe level yet.

This past epidemic I haven't had the common cold or flu, When I was in the big corporate offices I had it like clockwork every other month I would be down with something. I might continue to wear a mask.

Just a few weeks back I was checking out if there were any meets or shows, I knew there wouldn't be obviously but wanted to see if there was still activity.

I'd be happy to sleep in my own bed. For some reason my 3yr old daughter has decided to come out of her bed and sleep in ours at night.
If we try putting her back or sleeping in her bed with her its a hell I can't be bothered with.

I'm with Nossy and have no desire to be in crowds, but I never did before.
But I am really looking forward to a draught beer or 4 in a nice beer garden somewhere.

I've already booked the week of June of 21st off. From the publics view its going to be like a new year's eve celebration at 00.00.01am

From the emergency services view it's going to be hell as everyone will be getting smashed, punch ups so the call rate will go through the roof. Working the past year with maybe at the most 4 days of a month with covid has exhausted staff.

For me I'm just looking forward to having a few friends over, get the bbq going and get the beers and drinks flowing

To be fair it wouldn't normally be out this early in the year and this regularly but we're had a couple of days of heavy rain that's washed all that poxy salt away for nowthe isn't much in the way of local shows where i live apart from cars on the green at Bury St Edmunds and that wasnt held last year for obvious reasons, will hopefully get along to that if it's held this summer, ain't always easy to plan car shows as i work shifts that include week end work, but like you said it's still nice to get out for a drive in our pride and joys when the weather allows

talking of salt , i now wash the under side of the cars down , just with a hose , it’s surprising how much crap and probably dried salt washes off the car , it was surprising how much washed out of the rear arches , which is the first place these cars rust , and yes really hoping for some car shows this year , a bbq and a few beers 👍

I've been putting it off for a couple of years now but im booking mine in this summer at my nearest Dinitrol center and having them clean/treat/protect the underside of the car, last time i had it up on a hoist it looked pretty good to be fair so will finally get it done for peace of mind, we all love clean and polish the bits we see but forget about the bits that can't be seen till it's to late in some cases.

sorry this is going slightly off topic , i used to use waxoyl , but use dinitrol now , it works much better it dries properly and much easier and cleaner to apply , i have three jdm imports so four cans later per car around 60£ each , which i do myself , the one that was not sealed on arrival by its first owner is definitely in worse condition

Yeah it seems to have a good reputation but not in a position to do it myself so would rather book it in and let them have it for few days

Had dinitrol applied to mine the other week using a local well regarded specialist (car was away for a week), definitely worth doing (underseal is at the end of the thread):

I'll be happy if mine turns out to be as clean and protected as that when it finally gets done 👍

Do you have access to a proper lift or do you jack it up and do it on your back?
I'd actually prefer to do my own but as I don't have a lift, it just seems like it would be hard to do a proper job.
The RA has the bilthamber clear wax so will need topping up every other year now...

I just jacked it up , as above i was surprised how much debris came off it , all that debris probably staying wet and encouraging rust , i also sealed both by fsti that got bought in , i dry brushed them to do it as the undersides were both very clean

Would certainly help keeping the underside clean, either something like that or a drive thru car wash that only cleans the underside.
