Default 04 jdm legacy to 2010 hatch sti what to expect

Hi guys,I've owned a 2004 wr limited legacy td04 twinscroll for past 4 years,.
getting a bit bored of the performance and find myself able to afford a 2010 hatch prodrive sti.
I really like the handling of the legacy and I've uprated the front end bushes on it,so its quite stiff but handles great especially with the bilstein shocks.
what can I expect from the UK hatch in terms of stiffness speed, noise etc?
Thanks.
Justin

With a few handling mods, the hatch can handle quite well; arbs, rear subframe inserts, etc. Like Legacys, the rear Bush of the control arm is a weakness, pre facelift.
Performance wise, big difference with low down torque from 2.5l. Simple mods will see you to 350hp.
I had never been in a hatch before buying my jdm, but it is a good car to be in when sorted. Recaros make a big difference to the driving experience.
Get some pics up on the hatch thread!

If you are thinking of buying the one in this thread you posted on
https://www.scoobynet.com/subaru-444...l#post12092457
then it's actually a MY08, built in July 2008 and registered with the DVLA in 2010.

Registration plate means nothing as far as Model Year (MY) is concerned.
10th character of VIN gives the model year
For the G22 (widebody) Hatch/Saloon (MY08-14)
MY8 is 8; MY9 is 9; MY10 is A; MY11 is B.

UK/European model Turbo is a VF48

Thanks don.
another important question for me is can you get an adult mountain bike in the back with the seats down.
One thing I love about the legacy is the boot.

Is it the map on these that causes the Ringland issue?
so potentially even with new engine and uprated studs etc it could still go pop.
Thanks

A good forged build should last a good time, and would surely have been custom mapped after run in. I personally would only buy a forged build by a reputable builder.
A bike will definitely fit with the front wheel off.
I had a mk4 Legacy, so know its space.

Or buy a standard one and budget for a rebuild which you can spec yourself with the engine builder of your choice.

They are epic cars I went from a Hawk STI --> Forester STI --> 330s (which had to be rebuilt..... again) wouldnt change it.

Great thanks, I'm now thinking jdm hatch sti, which would eliminate the worry for rebuild.
Nice black 08 one on torque gt.
Little out of budget but see what they give me for the legacy seeing as it came from them.in the 1st place.
Whats the difference from jdm to UK spec on these?
Suspension the same?
Exhaust?
How many cats on the jdm?
Thanks guys

ANY 2003MY and newer including JDM cars (whether 2.0 or 2.5 apart from the oddball 2019 "S" car) is susceptible to ringland failure as they use the same manufacturing process.........
