Default 1997 Clutch return spring HELP

Hi all,

I have a 1997 Turbo 2000, ever since I bought it, I have had the common issue of the clutch pedal sticking down n having to flick it back up with my toe (starting to get rather annoying).

I have already seen that the clutch return spring was missing using an endoscope camera. I have bought the spring n set about fitting the spring today.. along with a braided clutch line.

I see the spring should be attached to the 'clutch arm'? Coming out of the gearbox, but I have no bracket for the other side of the spring. Please see the attached photos. Am I missing something obvious?

Car is still in bits n I'm hoping to sort this tomorrow.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Cal

...Looks like I need this bracket 🤔

Anyone know where I can find this bracket? (Probably in the garage where the clutch was changed 10 years ago!)

Well done for having found a pic of what you need... Is it just a part number for the part you're after? If yes, then do you know how to access the parts diagrams?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
A part number will be fantastic, I don't have any access to part lists.
It's back together for now, I fitted a braided clutch line n struggled like hell to bleed the clutch though!!
Cheers, Cal

Default Clutch fork return spring and bracket

Hi, there's a couple of sources for part numbers for you to browse through.
http://opposedforces.com/parts/
https://parts.subaru.com/
This 2nd one is a bit hard to navigate around but gives a bit more detail once you get used to it.
I've just done a Google search and ICP sell the above for £19.95
Item number 273933842888

I have a 97 car too and had this issue.
Did the slave cylinder - quite worn, and it helped a bit but it wasn't until I put a new master cylinder that normal service was restored. You have to do car yoga to get into the footwell and bleeding the system is a pain but there you go.
If you keep having issues do the Master cylinder, our cars are getting on a bit and you can expect this sort of thing
Good luck

Thank you all for your help.

I have since fitted the required bracket and spring.
also fitted a braided clutch line, flushed and bled the clutch.

Absolutely spot on now.
Much better clutch feel.

Cheers, Cal
