I'm not surprised the mechanicals have lasted that long but I am surprised rust has only just become an issue at 200k miles

Why get all that work done when it must have been obvious that the rot would be an Mot failure

That rust has been there for years, just ignored. It looks worse than my 2002 WRX and that was bubbling on the arch when I bought it 6 years ago.

However, they can be quite rotten before they become an MoT failure. Unfortunately rust does not fix itself or go away if you ignore it.

I guess at least with purchasing this you know you need to budget for a new set of outer skins and some inner fender work, it's the ones that look mint on the outside that still have a world of pain lurking beneath that you need to be more wary of!

It hasn't been modified hence why it's covered 200k+ miles. Once these cars have been modded/messed with by 'specialists' that's when problems arise and they become unreliable.
