The rear disc guard is part of the hand brake back plate being spot welded to it.

is it the same for a 2005 uk blobeye widetrack don? I’d like to replace my rear ones as I’ve already replaced the front ones but couldn’t buy the rear ones at the time. Cheers

You can grind through the spot weld and remove them , just paint them where you grind them , just check the centres of them , if they have rusted between the different layers they will start spreading there and then your discs will rub on them , then they need changing
Cheers Ian

Dont do this .!
If you must separate use a spot weld drill or even a normal drill . I get what Ian is saying but grinding hot metal will stick to the car body if its not covered , Trust me im a car body expert not a brake expert .

So it is sort of a 2 piece guard, the handbrake shoe part is bolted to the knuckle and then sheild piece is welded to that part, but Buying it new means u get the whole thing together? Correct

If it's just the outer section that is rusty , you can remove them easily enough , I removed the ones on my brand new backplates as I'm doing a big AP 4 pot kit , something that hasn't been done before , you will get no issues with these removed , and you only need to change them altogether if the centre of the backplate is rusty and lifting the plates from each other

I beadblasted and painted my hubs , and fitted new bearings and seals , easy enough to do but you'll need a press

Cheers Ian
