Hello, It's been a while
Hello everyone,
I used to be on this forum a lot and had a 2005 Subaru WRX STI, the cambelt snapped due to a dodgy mechanic having zero idea on how to fit it, sadly the subaru had to go.
Been a few years and I currently have a 2015 Golf R which is great fun, lot of power and very fast. but for me the smile every drive isn't there. But nothing quite compares to owning the Impreza.
I really want to get back to owning another Impreza. Just wanted to put out there if anyone has an Impreza newage onward which they are looking to sell, or potentially do a swap with the Golf R then i'd love to hear what you have.
The Golf is a 2015 DSG
32,000 miles
Sat Nav
ACC
It would sell for roughly 18k, but in a swap i'd consider a deal for the right Impreza.
few pictures below added, plus one of my old impreza!
I'd be only interested in the 2.0 unless you have forged the engine to try avoid the ringland failure in the 2.5. Ideally with as little mileage as possible.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section now, says I don't have access now to the for sale section etc.
Thank you

Great looking golf r, love the steering wheel. I almost picked one up just like it last year instead of my 2004 sti. Have you modified it much?

No not really modded much, just exhaust tips, Res delete and some vinyls. Plus the steering wheel. I had a lot of plans for it and if I can't find a good Subaru I'll go ahead with them. But just think now is the time for me to make the swap back!

Some people are having a serious taste bypass on here, that steering wheel is horrific and looks like it belongs on some kid's intergalactic hero toy spaceship, all it's missing is the buttons for the megazaptoid laser blasters.
I'd be disappointed if I won that in the £20 raffle never mind paying £700 for it!

Keep the Golf and buy a (still affordable) old classic turbo or wrx.
I had two Golf R (estates) at a company I used to work for and you don't realise at the time just how complete a car they are. I had my late classic turbo with PPP alongside for direct comparison, which I still have.
The Impreza has 'character' and when in exactly the right gear could match the Golf, but if I could have afforded a Golf R to keep as an everyday car when I changed jobs, I would have.
Why not spend £3 or £4k on a good Impreza you can gradually get to your liking and still have the Golf to use?

The wife doesn't understand that idea as I'd be losing out on sat nav, ACC, a fantastic dsg, never had anything like that! But the small amount of miles I do, I don't need those features!

nice golf matey!! I presume its the one that gives the grunty gearbox note changing through the gears . For that kind of money, you could get a mint type r classic?? i think you maybe struggle get a p1. A very good blob jdm widetrack and a few quid left over for some mods . or maybe the newer style ones (17-18 ) im not sure how the 2.5 is on these though.
