Hi all am i right in thinking the signal for the rev counter is ecu based on a 94 jdm, just curious as it jumps to around 500/600rpm on ignition before even starting the car

No the electrical signal comes from the clocks via a cable drive to the clocks.

Changed at the V4 to electrical sender on gearbox.

The old saying if its not broken don't fix it. Can't really understand how they are jumping as its cable driven from the gearbox to the rear of the clocks. Just check down by the gearbox dipstick and make sure there's been no modifications made apart from that can't really understand what is happening unless the ecu is back feeding power to the clocks just enough to make it jump. I may have a set of clocks here if you want to send pics of front and rear.

ill have to double check to see if anything has been modified by the prev owner, when the car is running they work fine just 500-600rpm higher than it should be and more annoying than a problem as such

Hold on a minute Boss I'm away stupid for some reason I thought you were talking about the speedometer and your not. The rev counter is electrically generated I'm sorry for misleading you.
