Default Can I heat wrap or is it not worth it?

Hi all,

whilst waiting for parts was wondering how I can keep engine bay temps down as going to be running standard tmic.

my question is can you heat wrap standard headers and up pipe or do I need to remove the existing heat shields to do this? Will this be better than the standard shields? Was going to use titanium dei wrap.

or can I just wrap over existing heat shields for more hot gases?

im also going to wrap the hot side of turbo and down pipe but down pipe is aftermarket anyway

i took covers off the headers under the engine , heat wrapped then put covers back on , to be honest i never noticed a difference , people talk about turbo blankets but turbo already has a metal cover , they say wrapping makes a difference im sure it does but not a lot , a cold cold air intake will have more effect , plus my other mod was put a splitter into the bonnet scoop that seemed to make a difference

what do you mean when you say you put a splitter in to the bonnet scoop?

yes the fsti does not have a bonnet scoop splitter , the air goes in and normally just hits the back of the ic , splitter in a more even spread of cold air , i think an sti on new age have them ?

The standard v1 & v2 come with a chimney that bolts over the turbo and cools it.

Does as designed and your keeping the car as close to standard as you can so nothing wrong with it with the slanty intercooler.
