Default Winter protection advice

With winter approaching has anyone got some advice on what products to use or advice?. The car really only gets used at the weekends and don't think it will be used when the roads are salty/Gritted. I have just re-sealed the boot seal as the old stuff had dried out and think a tiny bit of water was getting in so sealed again with carafax. The paintwork has been sealed with autoglym stuff too. Is it worth chucking a car cover over and what about the inside? de-humid stuff?.

You're in Lancashire: prep for alien invasion, and fit sub-machine gun mounts. Just in case.

Anyway - what about undersealing? Had mine done recently - all ready for a bad-*** Kent winter.

If you’re not using it, definitely cover it up. But make sure it’s a tight fitting cover, or well strapped down to stop it flapping.

I had my Spec C covered up Nov-March and it looked exactly the same when it was uncovered - i.e. zero winter deterioration. It’ll be in the garage this year though.

A dehumidifier, will it be outside? Heated garage is the way to go

Mine was undersealed from new have receipts. This has saved my body work.

Heated garage a bit overkill, unless it’s a 22B

The garage is full of junk haha. Im liking the cover idea, maybe pull the battery and chuck some moisture absorbers in

Scoobyworld do a couple of really good quality 4 ply, fur lined covers that won't scratch the paint or absorb moisture....Deffo protect that baby from the elements...UV rays are a big killer of paint, rubber trim and interiors too.

I did see a company who make made to measure covers, but i can't remember the name..They were very nice but I thought that a lot of what you paid for was the fancy exterior designs ie: branded logo, multi colours and piping etc, but the actual covers didn't seen to justify the added £'s...

I left my Bug stading for 6 month with dehumidifers inside and it still grew mold everywhere in the interior. Spent £60 on a full steam clean and it was as if it had just come out of the factory afterwards (and has remained fresh ever since).

So I would just budget for a steam clean when you decide to drive it again.

Why do you think all of the UK cars over about 10 years old have Mot advisories for rust? Built for driving in poor weather, yes. Able to cope with damp and salt - not a ****ing chance.

Where did you get your underseal done? I was quoted £1200 which I thought was a bit on the toppy side...

A local JDM indy did mine: just the middle section and arches, but very well done indeed. I paid £300 ish.
