Default Stock 2006 STi - Project Power

Dear all,

Attached/below is my first dyno run at Hidden Performance Sandwich, East Kent.

Respectable figures for a 12-year-old Scoob, I think?

Car about to get the major service of the century: every fluid and filter, sparks, compression test etc. Then dyno run two. Can't wait. Will update ASAP.
Cheers guys.

PPP is the 'Prodrive Performance Pack' - lifted power to 316hp fgrom 276hp. A lot of Spec D's appear to have been supplied with this dealer upgrade.

Lol - I Googled that. Sorry.

Yes - interesting set-up, with good gains. I might...just do it. Car has to be daily drive and family wagon though - so I need to get used to the Scooby madness before I commit.

Cheers!

...and now for my 2nd nub moment of the day: what is forging? As in reinforced engine parts? Pistons etc?

I thought a Stage 1 map up to the original JDM 320bhp was ok with these 2.5 STi's? Too risky?

Cheers.

basically engine rebuild. at 320 you should be fine. 2.5 is known to break pistons and headgaskets

JDM = 2.0 with a twinscroll turbo and equal length headers. Can have issues. Not sure were you got 320 bhp from though.
UKDM = Pooh.5. Will probably have issues unless forged.

320bhp...wasn't that the Jap version output? As I say, I'm a Suba-noob. Don't judge me!

2.5 will have issues beyond what? 320? 350? I need reliability but I'm not going to push too far....just yet.

Mine's an 06. Your link is 08-10?

If I leave her bone stock, and give her lots of lovely oil and lubes, I think we'll be ok.

Ha, ha. This is like running my BMW 520D with the N47 engine. It had a spaghetti timing chain - which was an engine-out repair. Oh, the miles of stress driving that caused.

Car's a car: anything with **** or an engine...right?

It matters not what year it is with the 2.5 engines post 2005, they can go pop when they want, high mileage, low mileage and more then once.

Sorry.

Don't worry. I love living on the edge. My splitter fell off tonight at WOT on the A256. S**t happens.

Minor scratches to underside of front lip. Plastic primer, spray can - lacquer FTW.

Hey - power-to-weight just improved!

Huge shout out to Hidden Performance of Sandwich. Superb outfit. Mike the manager has been extremely kind: even taxiing me home in an M3 in the rain.

As I say, great little company: Mike sent me pics and videos of the work as it was happening, plus technical notes and mechanics' notes after each repair or service item.

Second dyno run today after diff oil change. Much hotter so only managed 265hp at the fly.

...so I'll take yesterday's 279hp thank you very much!

Next phase: well...more power...

Watch this space.

Are they mapping it, or just dyno before and after servicing?

Timing belt changed? Hope they know what they are doing if it has been.

Not mapping: just dyno before and after service. I want to get the most out of the car stock, before moving ahead.

Cam belt done 2016. I can't upload the mp4 (file huge), but you can see the dyno in the photo below. Looks nice and new!

Meant to ask, I might want a new rear wing down the line. Same as the high-line STi thing in my image above. Any recommendations? Like - not eBay?
