Default Off to Nürburgring

Hi all, I’m going to Nürburgring next week just after any advice on the odd little thing I should take I not owned the car long, any common issues with scooby on super long drives ? I got the usual spare jubilee clips and cable ties. Is there anything any one would highly recommend ? Common problems
thanks

I'm there next week in the Spec C. Get there Friday. Maybe see you about.

I've got my tool kit, hazard triangle, fire extinguisher ready to go.
EU health card, euro breakdown cover and insurance.
Fresh pads in, recently serviced and health checked. Not much more you can do really.

I've just got home from weekend there, had great weekend with only 1 closure all weeekend so got some good quick laps in :-)
I always take full set of spare wheels but if you can't defo full size spare with matching tyre, good quality brake fluid and pads is a must, I even take spare hubs but I've had issues in the past but if it's you first trip you should be fine, try get down there early and get some laps in whilst it's quieter and keep looking in them mirrors cos stuff will come on you quickly
Cheers Rob

Make sure brake, diff and gearbox fluids are fresh as they take a pounding round the ring. Don’t want to lose your brakes after half a lap

I only use carbon Lorraine, tried most others over the years but they are quality but you will have to cope the squeal when cold but in my opinion it's worth it Cheers Rob

As Rob states the CL rc range are superb, only trade off is the squeal at slow speeds but it’s certainly worth it.

You don’t want to cook your brakes and have your fun spoilt, std discs will get destroyed quickly.

So what sort of spare are you carrying?

Tyre filler for an emergency. I can't imagine it's hard to find a new tyre at the Nurburgring. If I took a spare wheel I'd probably end up needing two anyway!

Resist the urge to max it on the autobahn unless you're running a front mount, very little air goes into the scoop over 100mph and intake temps will go through roof, usually followed by the engine letting go. We've had several do this in the early years of our annual trip

I killed the Kevlar pads within half a lap and I was taking it easy, they're not designed for track use.

I've been 32 times with only a top mount and have never had an engine issue No debate
Saying that I'm only doing 8.20's
You go enjoy it but I'd be tempted to take spare tyres i always do Cheers Rob

Top mount seems fine on track, it's 130-140mph that they seem to struggle with, certainly on a classic anyway with a smaller scoop and Intercooler.
Maybe they are fine, just our experience within our group so thought I'd mention it.
