Question

Does haveing the PPP, or a Unichip etc increase your fuel consumption? - Apart from as a result of encouraging you to use your right foot more!

Was considering PPP or full DeCAT & chip but not keen to increase running costs as I clock up a few miles.

I do about 30K miles pa and have an STI3 with Unichip & decat. I get between 24 - 30, mainly A roads / motorway making the most of the acceleration out of roundabouts etc. Its certainly no worse than before having it done.

Cheers

Fanx chaps.

Max it's a mind thing. I begrudge paying a few extra quid at the pump but can somehow scrape a few hundred squids for the mods. Daft ennit!

More boost does indeed allow you to burn more fuel faster - but the PPP also reduces restrictions in the intake and exhaust. Less restriction = less loss = better economy, and you'll see this all the time you're cruising. My guess is that the two effects will tend to cancel out over time, depending on how you drive of course!

Andy.
