Default Urgent advise needed

i have just borrowed one of my mates cars while mine is of road. After advising him amongst others not to drain the whole brake system fluid he decided to do it anyway. I have been trying all morning to bleed the system up but still have no brakes unless pump a few times first. Every corner is running clear fluid with no air at all and followed the correct procedure. Wondering if there is air trapped in the master cylinder or abs pump? Also the abs light is on but that was on before he drained the fluid. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dave

ABS pump seems mostly likely. You'll need to cycle it by activating the ABS. That might be a problem if the light is on and it's not working....

How are the brakes once they have been pumped a few times? Have you checked that fluid isn't leaking at any of the unions/nipples?

Well by rights you should as stated cycle the ABS pump but you MIGHT get away by slacking the pipes on the ABS pump and bleed to there then start going round the calipers. Watch you don't flip the seals in the master cylinder try not to go all the way to the floor and not to quickly. Good luck.
