Default V5 type r rear brakes

Hi,
I have a V5 type r which has had the gearbox changed by the previous owner to a jdm sti box (non DCCD) I new this when I bought it, but it also has sliding rear calipers so I am wondering if they changed the full rear set up, or did some V5s come with them calipers?

Sliding calliper's only came on the v3 type r with solid discs. Can't see any one fitting those on a v5 cause there's a whole lot to change.

Your rear would have been R180, now it'll be R160 with the standard STI set up, so the original brakes wouldn't have fitted to the hubs. Which is why you've got what you have now.

you may well have a WRX spec Type-R in which case it only had the R160 hub with 266mm vented discs / sliding calipers the same as the regular 4door STi..........

for info we tend to have the bespoke Type-R 290mm solid & vented discs on the shelf

Alan,

I think the WRX Type-R was only available for MY 98.

Thanks for the help lads, I am just going to pay for a 6 speed conversion with rear hubs and Brembos. It already has the godspeed kit on the front with the 2 piece disks which should be good enough.
