2008 STI hatchback
I'm looking to buy another car next month and I'm considering a 2008 STI that I've seen, any pros cons.......are they decent? Or am I better sticking with a blob or similar?
Regarding power how easy are they to tune, std turbo? Etc etc.......
I've got my eye on a few motors and I can't decide which to go for.
Cheers

i'm not so much into the hatch , sorry hatch owners , if i was going for one it would be the sti , my only concern is the engine , check for history or buy a forged one , if you go by what subaru say don't buy one that has been re mapped by any one ?? , plus make sure the ecu remap fix has been done by subaru

I had a blob sti and now a hatch sti. Didn't used to be a fan but it grew on me so ended up with one and I love it. A lot more refined than the blob and subtle which I like. As mention check for ringland failure or buy forged.

mine is a STi
the trouble now is.. unless you had the car new, or nearly new like I did, the hatch is now coming up to 10yrs old (last ones you might get on a 11plate but still a MY08).
you never know how a car has been treated, looked after.. people doing their own oil change with the wrong oil, using the wrong fuel, red lining it, etc etc.
on an older car you take a chance.
even cars sold as forged.. could have been done on a cheap budget and really not how you'd want a car re built.
you still read of cars with forged engines having problems.. more self inflicted though through a bad build.

That's my view, it goes wrong, chuck £5k at it.. get it about 400bhp....
where can you buy another car shy of 400bhp for about £5k?
If your try and sell the 'blown' car, you'll get next to nothing, so might as well fix and he happy ever after

As you know my 2.5 is fully closed deck with 14mm head studs so iv been told it's good for 600 but I'm happy where it is as for the road it's more than enough
Love owning my hatchback and one of the best Scoobs iv owned and iv had quite a few lol

After considering a few others, some big bhp cars and even Evo's (god forbid) I've went with the original hatch that tickled my fancy. I've stuck a deposit down for it and will hopefully be collecting within the next 2 weeks.
I'll wait until I have the car before posting pics etc just in case it goes **** up which it enevitably does when tempting fate.......
I'm excited to say the least, the Wagon will become the wife's daily and I'll use her car as a daily and this hatch will be a weekend car.
It can't come quick enough.

I've attached a pic from the ad.
The spec is just perfect TBH and is ideal for what I need especially on the roads round my way. I don't really need anything with ridiculous hp but the scope is there for upping the power if I decide to go that route as it's fully forged.

Sounds like the one, the previous listing had it as just forged pistons which is when I was seriously interested in it,but the owner did a little bit of digging and found out that it was a full build so the listing there the 2nd time had all the relevant information revised.
