Charge it up fully. Your tracker has depleted the battery within 2 to 3 weeks. I leave mine on a battery maintainer.

Alarm or Tracker back up batteries may need replacing,
But as mentioned fully charge the battery and get it checked, you haven't said how old the current car battery is.

My Bug used to last a week and a half before requiring charging. Like Beastie I now use a battery maintainer.

I'm probably wrong but I thought battery's only used to have roughly 5 year life so might be due a change.

get a Amp meter, connect this in series with one of the battery cables, pull fuses until load is 0, or close, this will show which circuit is pulling the power, then see what is on that circuit.

My blob could kill a brand new battery in under 48 hours of not being driven, never did get to the bottom of what was draining it.

like what i use.

I can't really leave my hatch more than two weeks or the battery will have gone down and struggle to start.

I've had the battery in my spec c for about a year now and it seems pretty dead. After a couple of days of no use it goes flat! I don't have a tracker but do have an immobiliser so I'm guessing it's that which is killing it.

For those who have maintenance chargers, do you leave the connectors on the battery all the time and just connect the external power when you park? Has anyone tried those solar maintenance chargers?

I put mine on when I put it back in my garage, so it trickle charges and decharges to condition it too.

I may not drive my car for a few weeks, so at least I know it's good to go when i need it.

for £22 the Halfords plug in charger is ideal, no need to spend more than that.

while you're at Halfords buy one of these too...

air at petrol stations is £1 round here now!!

Do you pop the bonnet and connect the clips each time or do you leave some part of it connected to the battery all the time?

I've connected the wires for my CTEK charger directly onto the battery terminals, so its just a case of plugging in the lead when I need to charge up the battery. I wouldn't bother with the solar panel charger if you're able to get a plug in one instead.

I've now hard wired it, so all I do now is just plug it on. When unplugged I coil it up, put a rubber band around it and tuck it to the back of the battery and front wheel arch to keep it secure.

If you have power close by grab one of the Lidl/ Aldi chargers, these have a maintain function,
then make up a small loom with a inline fuse,
Buy some of these for the loom and the croc clips so its plug and play.

I mounted mine in the lower grille area, you cant see it as I made up a spare plug to stick in to stop any water ingress issues.

I ran the plug to the front grill. I just plug in there without opening the bonnet. The plug has a cap so water doesn't get in when driving.

Thanks, I've just ordered some of those, they look quite handy, as I've fitted DRL in my front bumper of my car and these would be better than the push clips I'm using now.

they can be fiddly to crimp but Ive had no issues with them, ideal for the application you have in mind.

How do you put them together?
Is it just a case of attaching the wire and crimping it onto the 'prongs'?
I take it the longer prongs go in the longer plastic clip.. and you just push them in place?

I'd be inclined to tin the wires and solder it?

Yeah I thought to do that.

Just wasn't sure which way you push them in properly.
