Worth mapping if car is in stock form?
With the expected purchase of the Spec C Type RA on the horizon, I'd like to get the car mapped.
AFAIK it's completely standard. Not sure if anything has been modded.
Is it worth having the car mapped without having carried out any mods?
I don't want huge mods anyway - I want to keep the car as stock as possible - or mods that can be easily removed in the future.
Was thinking would an exhaust change be useful beforehand? together with anything else?

A map will defo give you piece of mind like a health check would and a little tweek with panel filter, pfr7b's and an oil change maybe in order change kilometres to mph if needed, exhaust wise if your going for a decat downpipe get this done just before the map cat back doesn't effect map
Most importantly take it to someone who's got a good reputation etc
The dynograph print out will be a clean bill of health on its own imo

Definitely get it mapped for UK fuel, as the Japanese fuel does have a higher RON rating and you'll be robbed of torque and BHP whilst running on 99 RON fuel.
I'm having my Blobeye Spec C Type RA remapped by Rich @ FB Tuning on the 27th of January, he'll be fitting a new Walbro fuel pump (he's told me that it's the only pump that fits the Spec C anti surge cradle and filter sock properly), JTi Pierburg 3 port boost solenoid and a new set of plugs and then he's mapping the car for me.
I believe that the Hawkeye Spec C Type RA comes with an aftermarket STi sports silencer fitted as standard, much nicer looking than the Genome in my opinion
Like the below :
I'm not going for a decat, I'm leaving the standard exhaust in place apart from the silencer above which I've had fitted.
I had my car checked on a dyno and the AFR readings are fine but it's down on power due to the fuel difference, it goes very well as is but better to get the map tweaked for UK fuel.

It certainly won't hurt and you will get a bit more out of it but I've heard people running FSTis on the standard factory map using Shell Vpower without problems.
For peace of mind I'd map conservatively aiming for 340/340 or so.
Don't put a Milltek, they drone.
For such a special car as yours I'd agree about keeping it standard (with the exception of a remap and perhaps a sports cat downpipe HKS or equivalent, not sure what twin scroll options are available other than Milltek).
Enjoy and post some pics when you get it!

I have a miltek system on my type 20 and it sounds really nice not to loud when revs are low and on full chat sounds the nuts!
There is a full 3" system for sale by mattyB in the for sale section just to let you know
