Default Resonated vs non res middle pipe

The middle section of my exhaust system that has the resonator box has snapped just behind where it joins the midpipe with cat.

Question is do I replace with a non resonator middle section or keep it as is?

Will it be much louder with a non resonator section fitted?

I was looking at these. This is the resonated section which looks like it'll be slightly louder than the std one anyway.

Or the non resonated one

Currently fitted with the prodrive backbox. Before the blow in the exhaust the system sounded bang on so I'm thinking stick with a resonated section will be the best option. My system is confusing me though as the midpipe with cat seems to be different from others that I have seen and as far as I can tell it's the std wrx one. I was also led to believe the downpipe was an aftermarket one but again it looks std.....but I'm not completely sure on that one.

I've got straight through with prodrive bbox and it's perfect for me for a daily, I had a louder bbox before the Prodrive and the resonated and non resonated made zero difference

hmmmmmm. Well when I had a WRX wagon (blob), just changing the up pipe to an STI version and fitting a prodrive (with sports cat) downpipe made it considerably more throaty. Not over the top, but definitely louder.

If you want to keep the sound you have now, then stick to the resonated

Did your prodrive downpipe with sports cat look anything like this??? Pic attached hopefully. It's not the best pic.

Depends on the system and whether it was designed to work without the centre resonator. My previous car ran a decatted H+S system without centre silencer and sounded sublime. My current car has a Milltek which sounded rather ordinary so I had the centre resonator removed...all that accomplished was to add a loud and uncomfortable drone so I will be re-fitting the silencer back.

I had another look underneath the car because the midpipe with cat didn't look right before and that's because it's a decat midpipe.

Would that have been part of the ppp as it looks pretty old and in similar condition to the middle section with res

this is what a PPP sports cat downpipe looks like.

Most aftermarket downpipes are a single piece. Instead of being a downpipe, and a "cat pipe" joined together.

It seems that the STI ppp was the only ones that had the sports downpipe. The wrx ppp has the decat midpipe and backbox.....

I plan on swapping the turbo out over the winter months so I'll upgrade the up pipe and downpipe at the same time. I'll get a new decat midpipe as well as the current one looks tired.
