1997 CATULUNYA RUNNING MAFLESS...PROBLEM!!
HI....I HAVE A 1997 CATALUNYA AND IT IS IDLING ROUGH AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF...ITS ALSO BACKFIRING WHEN NOT ACCELERATING AND DURING HARD DRIVING ITS MOSTLY ON....BUT COMES ON REGARDLESS AFTER A FEW MILES.
I HAVE ONLY JUST BOUGH THIS BUT KNOW ITS RUNNING MAFLESS!! ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT I CAN DO WOULD BE APPRECIATED, CHEERS GUYS

HI MATE. ITS AN ECL ECU MAPPED BY TEAM DYNAMICS TO 300BHP WITH A TD04 TURBO AND RED INJECTORS. IT HAS A STRAIGHT FROM TURBO 3" HKS EXHAUST ALSO.
YEAH, IT WAS RUNNING FINE...UNTIL...I HAD A RACE WITH AN AUDI R8 AND THE ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AND NOW ITS DOING THE ABOVE. ITS ALSO RUNNING MAFLESS.....ANY IDEAS?

First thing to do is turn off your CAPS LOCK.
Then plug the diagnostics in and read the codes,only takes a few minutes.
It could be detting it's **** off and you've killed the engine!
Was an IAT sensor fitted when you went mafless?
Might be just a faulty sensor?

lol....i know what u mean lol...and yeah, sorry about that (caps).. and honestly...i dont know about the sensor, ill check. im hooking it up at the weekend so ill be back for advice.

Ok hope it goes well for you.
The cel won't be from the IAT,I know some mappers don't fit the IAT and some mappers fit them wrong so not bothering with compensation tables!
Hot weather,running mafless and not using compensation in ESL,then driving the car hard is a recipe for det imo.
Hopefully you just have a faulty knock sensor or one of the others and haven't caused any internal damage.
